Can't really go into detail about what is what on this but I can tell you the tank is made from an old Aluminium road sign and the whole bike weighs less than your average 50cc moped ! Have a couple of piccies of it anyways. This is my Dads Daily Ride (he's turning 70 next month) ;

Some little scrote decided last night (20/06/11) that they deserved my Dad's prized possesion more than he did.
It was taken from is back garden in Hillmorton, Rugby after they smashed off the padlock, and seen later that night without it's number plate.
As you can imagine, my Dad is absolutely heartbroken, having built this from nothing.
Any sightings, please let me know. I assure you it will be treated in the utmost confidence. He just want's it back !

B*stards, probably kids looking for something to joyride. Are there any fields/woods nearby? Might be worth a walkabout in case it's been dumped, lost a few peds in my time to this type of f*ckwit, nick, rag it then dump/burn it. Hope you get it back.

Realy hope it comes back. Might be worth keeping a lookout in the local rags/ ebay and alike for "FIELD BIKE" my mint early ts100 turned up in the freeads listed as a great field bike after it was nicked.

Well, after a few scouting missions around the local haunts of such lowlifes, I'd turned nothing up. I even heard the bloody thing last night after finding it's tyre tracks!! (It's got a very distinctive note ) Anyways, just before lunch today my Dad got a call off Five - O to say they'd recovered his bike, but it had been burnt out. After more 'phone calls and arguments with said cunstabulary, insurance co (they were insisting it should go to their yard for inspection and destruction) and salvage yard, he went down and collected it this afternoon. Turns out, they'd been giving it beans and destroyed the rubber cush drive in the rear hub and then dumped it in a local field. Whilst lying on it's stand they tried to light the contents of the fuel tank, which resulted in a melted throttle twist grip ! Damage total seems to be rear wheel hub, twist grip and rear mudguard. All in all, not too bad considering. My Dad was soo happy to have it back, he was almost pleased that his little bike had given some pleasure ! - I put that down to delirium. Thanks everyone for the kind comments. p.s. Also thanks to Rugby Police for recovering the bike to a compound, instead of letting us collect it, and for charging Dad £150 release fee for getting back his own property

I argued that it was mine & the pound shouldn't have it in their possession, copper replied 'it was nicked and they've recovered it'. My reply ' I didn't ask for it to be f*cking nicked did I'. At least it's home & what damage there is can be fixed. Do yourself a favour and tighten up security wherever it's kept, extra locks, maybe a bike alarm (cheap on eBay and easy to fit), I brought a shed sensor alarm from screwfix for under £20 which saved my last ped a few times. Now the local scrotes know it's there they may well be back for it. Sad but more than likely to be true.

A friend had a moped (chained to a concreted in metal hand rail) taken he was on holiday. Police recovered undamaged but refused to let his father collect saying only the owner could do that. Two week later the colelction and storage charges were more than the moped was worth so they just left it with the recovery firm.

Don't even go there bud, got caught like that with mine, no doubt there's a few back handers involved with this stolen/recovery service. A few years ago when I did recovery they started charging £15k to get onto the police recovery register. My boss didn't pay, downsized and kept his business. Those that did pay slowly went bust until only the big yards (who get the pick of cars to recover) were left. Unless you have a massive yard and are turning over cars quickly it's not a profitable business. Matt

IIRC they were talking about the insurance scandals going on atm. And it tailed off into a convo about the way even the police sell the rights to pick cars and bikes up to firms. Some are contracted on a yearly basis or whatever, But then others are paying the coppers per car. Therefore its in the interests of the police to get it recovered to the yard and charge the recovery people for that. Then the recovery people charge you.

I don't listen to the radio at work so I missed that, kinda figured it out when though after going through it with my peds. The last one I went to pick up I was told by the yard owner that 'it aint worth taking mate', I said I needed to take it in order to claim so he said 'you'll have to pay the fees, then you can see it'. Basically I wasn't even allowed to see my ped & decide for myself whether I wanted it back without forking out over £140 first. Sound dodgy? I fecking thought so, called the local cuntstubble's & was told that's how it is & what exactly what was my problem.

Glad to hear you got it back. Such a cool little bike. This whole business of having to pay a small fortune to get your own property back from the police sounds disgraceful though.

TBF, it's better than I expected. They've ruined the rear tyre by spinning up the back wheel, this extra strain has also ripped the rear sprocket drive out of the hub. The rear mudguard is broen, from were they've been giving each other 'a croggy', and then, when the rear drive finally gave up, they dumped it in a field and tried to set fire to it, which did nothing but melt the twist grip. (There's not exactly a lot to burn on this bike ) Little bloody shitbags. Still, it's back in nearly one piece and we've had it running again and she still sounds ok
