Last year I ran an entry with students at the school I work at in the GreenPower Formula 24 competition, to design and race an electric car.
One of the issues we had was being able to gear down the motor enough to run efficiently. This year the battery capacity has been reduced and we need to further gear down. We would like to do this with a very large chain ring. Which can be baught for massive ammounts of money in bicycle type pitches. However we use 8mm pitch industrial chain. Nothing is available that big -112 teeth - but we do have software to draw chainrings in any size and pitch, and export them as DXF files. Unfortunately we don't have a lazy cutter that will cut steel plate.
Can anybody help us make one of these please?
