Well, almost 1,000. Not retro so please forgive but as petrolheads I thought I'd share these pics with you. I was fortunate enough over the past couple of days to drive a couple of bonafide supercars for an upcoming mag feature I'm doing.

Both great for posing, both sound great in their own way.
Which did you prefer. I bet the neighbours thought you had won the lotto!

It's an upcoming promo publication for a car club.
The F430 was the F1 version with the 'flappy-paddle' gearbox so I felt that took a little from the experience (but handy to just stick into 'auto' whilst I got used to the car around London) but the noise was just magnificent- popping and cracking just like you'd hope!
The Lambo pips it for looks in my opinion and is a bit less 'obvious' so tends to get more double-takes and respect compared to the Ferrari which seemed to divide public opinion as to whether it was the coolest thing ever or made you a bit of a tosser! The Lambo was rather quiet by comparison- so I'd take the noise of the Ferrari with the looks and gearbox of the Lambo :-)

It was pretty cloudy over our way yesterday so I had no cause to use the sunglasses holder - fortunately I managed not to break anything as I was responsible for covering a sizeable excess on the insurance (as I'm freelance)!

Does it go all the way round to 10k then?
Had be pleasure of being a passenger in a Gallardo, the levels cornering G were just amazing, and it stopped unbelieveably quickly too.

Gallardo quieter than a Ferrari? I've heard one at full chat and it's far from quiet!

It was loud at full throttle but I only managed that a couple of times as any foray into the upper end of the rev range in any gear above second puts you firmly in the license-losing zone. The Ferrari burbled and turned heads even trickling along in traffic so in real-world conditions the 430 was much louder- that said, both sounded great when you opened the taps (of course!).
And yes, the cornering power of the Gallardo was unbelieveable- I won't forget looking over and seeing my girlfriend pressed up against the window as we took a roundabout at a spirited pace!

Ah fair enough then, I've only ever been overtaken by one, or seen them on a driving day. I prefer the sound of the Lambo V12 over the Ferrari V8 though, but that's just me. Still, a big case of the green-eyed monster here!

That Lambo's a beaut, is it me or is the Ferrari's bonnet matt? Don't reckon they'd be pleased if you returned it rat-look. Any more you get to test? If so keep the pics coming please.

Lol- a rat look F430 would certainly be interesting but it's just damp as it was about 6am when we took the pic.
No more exotica lined up in the immediate future- got a few things I'm working on so I'll keep you posted.
Would be cool to do some older stuff though- I prefer the comparison tests when you revisit past masters with a modern eye, but it's hard to get older cars that you can actually drive.

I've warned a mate of mine who works at Aston that if I win the lottery I'll be ordering a AMV8 off them and sanding all the paint off.

Funny you should say that - a mate worked in the paint shop at the new plant (basically mixing paint all day ) They will literally do whatever you want, apparently one customer had theres painted satin/matt dark blue after seeing one still covered in the protective wax - should imagine it looked pretty mean Your'e a lucky man aaronm3 - what i'd give to experience and drive such machinery Think i'd take the Lambo aswell - though that constant fizz of the Ferrari's flat plane V8 is entoxicating BTW your T-shirt rather clashes there with the Red paint on the Ferrari

But I'd keep it secret until the day of purchase where the delivery guy would be seen running for his life as I race towards it with an orbital sander.
