i started with the da and some 120 grit today. anyway, everything started off as filler or black paint. anyway, what causes the bottom spotty bit? the top bit seems to have ben fillered (as does lots of the car), but the bottom bit just seems odd to my eyes. has bitumin or something been there? the same problem happened on the front. also, whats the best way/product to treat rust to stop it growing? sill arch i want to paint it so it lasts forever (stop laughing at the back!) and not use bitumin. ta. other pics;

My c reg Laser had that ripple effect along the sill's, I think it is some sort of mild anti chip treatment applied when new. Cant remember if I used high build or stripped back to metal to get rid of it

Sand it throught the grades of sandpaper until you can barely feel the rippling then a few coats of high build. Or take it back to bare metal, which might be quicker actually. All you need to remember is paint hides nothing, or very little at least.
As long as you keep any stone chips touched up you shouldnt need to reapply stone chip, personally I think it looks twonky.

stone chip s a sod. I've tried sprayed over it before and had real adhesion problems. Yo u think you've flatted it well enought and then you get paint peeling and flaking off within weeks,,,

If its deep - cut it out and weld in fresh
If it's surface I still like jenolite - seems to be the best thing I have tried
Was gonna post how much rust can you find in a capri shell but I think the answer will always be as long as you keep looking you'll find it!!!!

comes in a bottle. Brush it on, let it do its thing, then wipe off with a rag soaked in more of it.
