In about six weeks time, we're heading off in a convoy of 3 Imps to drive around Scandinavia on a charity run. I was talking to some mates about organising a run (in a few years time!) for different makes of car that would still have a challenge to it. At first I suggested under 1 litre, over 25 years old as the rule, but got shouted down Then I came up with the idea of this equation: Age of car + Oddness ----------------------- > 20 Engine size (litres) Oddness is a purely subjective scale from 1-10 (although negative oddness maybe invoked if necessary to keep boring cars at bay) So, for example, a 1973 1.9 Citroen DS is pretty odd say, 8 and 33 years old, so that's 41/1.9 which gives roughly 21.6 so they'd be allowed to come along. Needless to say this equation is hoplelessly biased so pretty much any Imp is allowed! What do you reckon? Where do your cars fit into the equation? The basic rule of thumb is if everyone else thinks you'd be mad to take it round Europe, then it should score over 20!!! Cheers Graham

'69 Corolla Sprinter; I'd say about a 6 for oddness and 37 years of age, so 43/1.1 makes 39.090909etc. High score!

Interesting thought. Your formula is definitely skewed against big-engined cars - would taking a 7-litre+ Caddy be sensible?! The only way I can get that to stack up is if it was 130 years old......
I've taken my 240K twice before, and even cranking the oddness up to 10 I only get 15.
Anyway, whereabouts you visiting? In four Datsuns we did Holland, Germany, Denmark, Sweden and Norway. Great trip, I envy you.

The plan is all explained on www.scandivia06.org.uk Basically, it's goes something like this: Coventry (home of Imp engines) Newcastle-Kristiansand Ferry Oslo Stockholm Copenhagen (short break!) Bremen Boulogne Coventry. 2,200 miles, 8 countries and about ten days... The formula is skewed against big engined cars because I'm in the Imp club and there's something appealing (appalling?) about taking tiny cars that are meant for shopping trips and thrashing them across Europe! Right , I don't actaully own one but I was wondering if this would be capable of the highest ever score using your equation. Peel P50 Age 45 years Oddness definitely a 10 Engine 49cc so 0.049 Leading to an outrageous score of 1122.4 ;D ;D

There'll be 3 Imps getting on the ferry at Newcastle at around lunchtime Mon 26 June - think it's a 2:30 sailing so a couple of hours ahead for booking in.
We're also meeting up at Coventry Transport Museum on the 25th June (Sunday) for a big send off type thing at 11:00am
Cheers
Graham
