I've been considering putting a single wiper conversion on the Scirocco, but I'm a little confused as to what wiper arm I'd have to use. I pressume that you can't use one of the exisitng ones because of the bend in the arm to make them park correctly........and that I'd have to get a straight one, but where from? There are a few conversion kits on ebay at the moment, but none of them have the wiper arm with them

I like long walks, especially when they're taken by people I don't like.

MKI rocco's, the really early ones, had a single wiper, but I assume the golf boys conversion arms are the same as the one you'd need. maybe something from a rear screen? But VW decided the car needs two , I'd save your money.

Fiat Uno is a nice light little unit, thats what i'm using on the Escy But if early roccos have a single from factory, you'r better off sourcing one of those for simplicity of fitting I guess.

early rocco's are as rare as hen's teath , unfortunatly they weren't very well undersealed hence early mk1's ,rocco, passats have rusted into the ground many years ago big question is do you want to see where your going when it rains ? had on on my mk2 and it was F**kin useless , anything over 80 it lifted off the screen , and in the winter the bloody thing iced up ,i would have changed it back if i hadn't bought the car with it if your rocco's a toy fine , but if it's your everyday smoke i'd think twice

Neither of those problems sound like they are caused by having a single wiper conversion. ‘It iced up in winter’? WTF?

i think some mk2's had the single wiper - i heard my 1984 was the first year of twin blades. So ETKA might throw up a ready made list of VAG parts to go and order.....

Very early mk1s had 2 wipers - i think 74-75, then they had one.... very early mk2s had 1 wiper... then they had 2 and yes they rust. like billy-o I think i still have a spare single wiper from a mk1. Id need convincing to sell it though you do see them on that ebay wuite often though...

Never knew they had a single. Had noticed that early mk2s have the windscreen wiper arrangement of a LHD car, but never seen one with a single from factory
