Sort it out lad. It'll do you good to get some excersise and pump those arms up a bit. You don't know heavy steering till you've tried to reverse park one of these fugga's: And I'm about to make life a whole lot worse for myself by fitting mine with 8in wide mudding wheels and a smaller dia. steering wheel. Herculean!

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

back to the original question:
If you are too bothered you could go with 195 tyres on 7's 205's would look better. I pondered this on my new 15x7's. you could get skinnier ones up front like 6 inch wide modern look, custom look 4 inchers, or even dragster look bike wheels! ;D

Sounds like general RR policy is that PAS is not recommened then...! ;D My Mk1 Golf is very heavy at low speeds, I think it's a combination of a 30 year old steering rack, 195/45 tyres and very low suspension... but you get used to it. When I drive my g/f's Lupo (with PAS) I find it very light indeed, one finger steering! My Mk2 Golf has PAS and is quite nicely weighted, not too light. I don't like Mk2's without PAS, very hard work to park so I assume your Passat is similar. I suppose you can go as big as you like with the steering wheel so long as you can get your knees under it! Mine tend to touch the wheel in most cars even with the seat on it's lowest setting but I'm a lanky b@stard

I gotta admit a guy who bought a Mk2 golf was going on about this first, it all seems VW related, my hi rise polo only had skinnys so i not experienced it. Also i found my polo too small so had to trade as it was causing knee pain, sadly Mk1 golfs were the same cockpit size.

No PAS for me and 215 tyres. I don't find it a problem really and I'm a wee man.

I'm a skinny guy with a bad back, and I have no probs with 195s or 205s on 7-inch wide rims. It's surprising how quickly your muscles build up too!

Most of mine have PAS actually. Only stuff like the Ventora and Capri don't and I don't think the Capri needs it, the Ventora probably has a fault. The big yanks are fine with it, never tried one without PAS. Did have to try driving the Buick with the PAS dead though and that was nearly impossible!
