Wow, I really didn't think so many had slipped through the net. Didn't Citroen try and get them all back and crush them?

I'm glad there are still a few knocking around. They're great, look like a Chevette sucking on a lemon from the front.

Wow, I really didn't think so many had slipped through the net. Didn't Citroen try and get them all back and crush them? When they discontinued them, they gave the owners the option to give them back to Citroen, where they'd be crushed. The owners that kept them were told there'd be no spare parts for a decade, or something like that anyway. Shame, interesting cars!

I had never heard of this project before, great find! An interesting story worth "googling" to learn more I didn't even realize Citroen had toyed with rotary engines in the past.

don't know much about these, werent they a test bed or something? Never actually sold, just lent out kind of like the GM EV1? They look a lot better from behind than from the front imo ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png)

From wiki :
The Citroën M35 was a coupé derived from the Ami 8, and equipped with a Wankel engine and an hydropneumatic suspension. The bodies were produced by Heuliez from 1969 to 1971. The longitudinally mounted rotary engine had a nominal capacity of 995 cc delivering 49 bhp (37 kW; 50 PS). According to factory figures the car had a performance roughly on a level with that of a Morris 1300.[1] The engine was supplied by a company formed in 1967 by NSU and Citroën called Comotor. The M35 was an experimental vehicle and was not officially sold - rather it was supplied to loyal Citroën customers to get their comments on the usability of the design.

Wow, that's really something special. That Dutch shop who has some for sale seems great, the guy also has two MEP X2's (Panhard engined single seater, later replaced by the MEP X27 which had a Citroën GS 1015 engine and I want one ;-)).

They did a rotary GS as well, don't know if any of those survived. I remember seeing a pic of one in 'Motor' back in the day.

In contrary to the M35 the GS Birotor was actually a production car rather than a prototype. As Citroen was afraid of the warranty claims they did buy many of those back and scrapped them, but some remain. The CX is also said to have been originally designed to take the comotor rotary engine.
