I don't know whether to go cheap with Dktmorris's Rapid that is Ebay, and spend the money tarting it up, or to blow out on either
a Saab 9000 Aero (mucho fast and 40MPG on a run, and funky electic recarro interior)
Honda Prelude 2.2 VTEC (90's gen 4 not last one, recaro seats, monster performance, 2 engine profiles so drinks like a nun arround town, 4WS, runs like clockwork with servicing)
Alfa 75 2.0 twinspark (interesting shape, last of the RWD Alfas, but funky rear brakes, and alfa electrics)
Alfa 155 8v 2.0 twinspark (no cambelt to worry about, normal rear brakes, electrics a lot better, and rust now rarely a problem).

Probably looking at between £1500 and £2500 for a car that will have to do 40 miles a day every day motorway, and several 2-400 mile runs a year+ About 12-15000 miles a year. Gotten used to the comforts a little, but need something a bit smaller and cheaper to run.

Can't afford a decent Furb or Octavia, so

Nothing personal to owners of older more stylistic models from Vaux/Ford/Rover(austin/BL/MG) but the newish ones that I could afford are bland and flat, and While Alfa and Saab still retain alittle in the slightly older ones, the newer ones are just too corporate, where as the Japs are starting to discover flair from the 90's onwards with the MR2, Supra, Prelude, NSX and the Sports and rally rally cars like the Scoob, Evo and Skyline.

I love Skodas, even the modern ones. There's a high-spec Skoda Superb being used as a taxi in my town, and I love being picked up in it! I had a modern Seat Leon Cupra as a courtesy car in place of a modern Vauxhall once. Lovely car, well, for a modern car, although it had a recurring problem with the rear wiper that made it squeak when used that I couldn't fix, even after stripping the mechanism apart. Shame, or I'd have almost enjoyed the car in the wet. It was nice in the dry, cause the wipers weren't needed! ;D
