I am trying to establish what and where this number plate is from ....
The vehicle attached to it is without V5, aso the seller says one needs to apply for one.
Can one find much out about status , and what can you find out abput it ?

Grizz, have you tried the online vehicle enquiry? www.taxdisc.direct.gov.uk/EvlPortalApp/(Click on vehicle enquiry to the left) If it doesn't come up on there, you might have to ring the DVLA as it could be pre-computer system?

what is it?
you can check taxation status etc on DVLA but need a manufacturer.

IIRC its from 1970 and was originally registered in Derby.

IIRC its from 1970 and was originally registered in Derby. Matt Derby never had its own. Local cars were -RB, -RR, -CH and -TV and were registered in Nottingham. -HT is Bristol. [/anorak] ;D

Thanks guys. It seems to have had one bid on Ebay, which was much more than I would spend. However, it was one of these. MAD as a box of frogs. But they seem quite pokey for a 50cc on a CVT. Read up a bit for a giggle if you want.

I recently applied to Chester archives for a certified copy of the original registration details from pre DVLA. Armed with this, and confirmation from a recognised club dealing with the machine (my Honda CB92 Benly), DVLA have confirmed no problem reissuing the original reg (or maybe age related if reallocated). Same should apply to any vehicle where not registered with DVLA due to being off the road before records computerised

i have only ever seen two ariel 3, the first was on "thats life" with esther rancid, it was nearly new but such rubbish the owner destroyed it on national tv and the second was in a haulage yard somewhere being thrashed around by a kid afaik a great example of the curse word which was the final death throes of the british motorcycle industry ttfn glenn
