Well I thought it was time I started a thread about my new unit and business so here we go.
Mantasport has been my sideline for a few years now working on other people’s cars from my home on the drive and garage. Mostly Manta's but as word got around from friends a few other things came to me as well.
For the last couple of years I’ve always had a long term project in the garage (mine or customers) which meant doing any other small jobs on the drive. Not ideal in Yorkshire with the temperamental weather, which has delayed jobs and I’ve also had to turn down jobs that needed to be inside to complete
So I’ve been on the lookout for somewhere larger to rent for the last year or so with the idea of starting up full time as a business. Everywhere I found was stupidly expensive until a friend of a friend told me about a place just about to become vacant. I got in touch with the landlord and after a viewing I knew I’d found the spot for me.
So at the start of November I moved into my own unit with 1200sq/ft so i now have space for 4 or 5 cars and all my tools.
As it looked when I first moved in
Filling up with the first batch of projects
The discovery needing a new boot floor and side panels, front inner wing repairs and also a pair of sills
The manta in the background is having a 24v engine dropped in
While the other manta needs new springs fitting and a bit of welding to the NS sill
The carlton in the background is just me daily dropping off more stuff
When the discovery went it was replaced with a mates new purchase of a E30 325 rally car
It was sold to him as ready to rally but after a day of stripping things off it was soon evident that it was no where near.
In the first couple of months there has been a varied selection of cars through Mantasports doors other than the Manta's
From a few modern euroboxes needing small repairs or services to
Tims 1983 Merc 280 (Levismerc on here) which i've done several pieces of work on, all shown on his project thread
To a friends Split screen camper after it was blasted to have some etch primmer sprayed on
I'll try to update this thread as we go along with some of the more interesting projects.
Aswell as keeping my website updated www.Mantasport.co.uk
Also if anyone in the Yorkshire area needs some work doing on their car at a very good hourly rate give me a shout on here or e-mail me at Mantasport
I'll even offer a discount to forum members ;D
Anyway best get down the unit as i've had my day off this month and the BMW is doing its first rally on Tuesday
