guide traffic light viewer fitted [/quote] cant seam to edit the above post but what on earth is a traffic light viewer A lot of people ask that question It’s an American accessory that been around since the 1950’s As an old advert says, it’s an optically clear prism viewer....permits driver to see overhead traffic lights in true colour when view of traffic light is blocked by top of car/sun visor It’s basically for cars with an outer sun visor to help you see traffic lights when you are stopped under them

Wing rust repair When i bought the car it had this rusty wing corner but as i quick fix i bonded an aluminium plate behind and filled over it, after 3 years it’s just started to bubble back through again so its time to weld some new metal in It wasn’t as bad as this when i filled over it but poking it with a screwdriver made a few more holes Wing corner cut out and new corner made Corner welded in and lead loaded, filed to get the rough shape ready for a skim of filler and then high build primer rolled on Wing finished Badge fitted, its from the dash of a 1950’s Vauxhall Velox/Wyvern I’ve put a magnetic back on it so it can be moved or taken off

new front suspension unit fitted old suspension unit removed Vauxhall spring spreader used to help with the removal of the transverse leaf spring some rot hiding behind the crossmember chassis is double skinned where the crossmember bolts, looks like the rust got between and burst it open I'm using the same front spring this was new fitted in 2005, just needed the leaves knocking back into alignment and some paint crossmember built up with lots of new parts ready to fit new crossmember bolted in and front anti roll bar fitted

That looks lovely under there, just like the rest of the car. Weird suspension set up too, I'd assumed these were on standard springs and coils.

Love this! I had '64 one years ago which is always a reminder to me to never view a car in the dark driving home there was a permanent banging noise coming from the rear of the car, drove great though!....daylight revealed the roof and above the rear window were no longer attached due to rust and the roof was literally bouncing up and down ....I learn't to weld on that car although bizarrely that was pretty much all the rust

thanks for comments Mr Vulgalour- the transverse leaf suspension was a selling point for the ha, according to Vauxhall it has the advantage of a progressive hard spring reaction to roll whilst retaining a soft spring reaction for normal ride basically they say the springs acts as an anti roll bar, hb's and hc's went to coil spring setup baggabones- HA's do have a habit of rusting in unusual places your roof rust was probably caused by the rear capping's which trap water and rot the roof and rear wing seams hastandard- post some pics up when its painted, its nice to see another HA standard put back on the road

car is back on its wheels now seems to be sitting lower even though I used the old spring, I thought it would have sat higher with the new bushes on, I can only think the old bushes where tightened with the car jacked up so when let down the bushes took the load and made the car sit higher I've also added negative camber by shimming the top wishbone fulcrum shaft's, before I had one wheel straight and one with slight positive camber

like most people here on retro rides i'm a fan of the feu orange air freshener, I have an original on the rear view mirror of my metro but since the prices of the originals are getting expensive even for used ones i decided to make my own for my viva which is a little different to others pic show most of the stuff i needed to make it metal is laser cut mirror stainless and aluminium for the centre the bubble made using resin and is filled with scent, it can be refilled with a syringe through the small holes on the rear
