I bought the first ever Panique MK1 Fiesta XR2. TEC576Y.
I had seen it featured in Fast Ford and Performance Ford Mags and loved it to bits.
I was 17 at the time and had just written off my first car and was waiting for the insurance to cough up when I saw the XR2 for sale in Autotrader.
It was up for sale for £3,500 so I called and offered £3,000 which was accepted.
I got my mum to drive me up to Barrow in Furness (lake district) to collect it then drove back home to Manchester like a dog with 2 d***s.
Unfortunatly the car came with it's own problems. First, someone tried to take it off me in a petrol station (and failed). Next it got broke into, and everytime I stopped at a set of lights someone wanted to race me which got me a fair few points to be honest.
Then one night I woke up with the alarm sounding so grabbed my keys and looked out of the window only to find someone had decided it needed a flame job and had set fire to it. SCUM.
By the time the police arrived the car was wrecked but I wanted to keep it so folked out for it to be sand blasted then rebuilt from scratch but with a few extra upgrades like a mk2 xr2 trim and an engine rebuild and a few mods.
I would love to know if anyone has any pics they could send me of the car or know what has happened to it in the last 10yrs or so.
