well, this is my place. a few have seen inside here before, but not that many.
I used to trade under the name DD metalworks, but seeing as the other D. left, I decided it was a bit silly keeping on with that name, as I wanted all the glory for myself, lol!
so, ive put my (other) name to it, and called it stringer fabrication. that way, everyone knows whos built the stuff that rolls out of here, as I'm quite proud of the stuff I create.
at the mo, its still a dump, 2years after ive moved in. its slowly getting better/tidier bit by bit, as I fix/make things and sell off the tons ive stuff ive hoarded over the years and invariably don't need. but one of my new years resolutions is to make it really nice in here. partially for myself as I spend so much time here, and partially because its probable the wider public will be seeing inside here a lot more in the future, for various reasons........
but, here we go. project pickup lurking here-
the main 'run' of workbenches and equipment(including temp bench held up with packing crates!)
this corner has been a bit of a dumping ground for stored projects and stuff at the minute, which is something I need to address-
main workbench and wood burner, very important this time of year!-
lathe corner-
storage racking, stereo, and my model A hiding under dustsheets-
my A again, and in front is the next big build I'm about to commence for a friend, another model A-
these are very much the 'before' pics. I'm hoping that in a couple of months (Depending on how much free time I get over the christmas period) that itll all be sorted out how I want it- its getting all new fitted workbenches with cupbaord doors, painted floor, new shelving and racking, and some form of false ceiling/loft space put in to keep it warmer and give me more storage. then I might make the doors a bit bigger too! ive drawn a plan and everything
tbh, ive got too many cars in here at the moment as well, its much nicer with one or even two less.
and why SFHR? well, look at the side of the welder in the first pic, and thats my new logo. a take on the 'XXHC' logo used by punks in the '80s. the HC stood for hardcore, so youd have 'new york hardcore', 'los angeles hardcore', for different groups in different cities. it came about because of a discussion with a mate about how dedicated I am to the cars I build, and him putting it as me being 'hardcore', which being a bit of a punk immediately made me think of that logo, and the penny dropped. ive just mixed it up a bit to get stringer fabrication hot rods, which give me a nice logo/brand thats easily tagged/stencilled onto stuff
