...and just about managed to keep my wallet in my pocket, despite these tempting little things from Maisto: ^ I've actually got that one! ^ They all look a bit better in the flesh. When is Father's Day?

Theres some cool models about these days, the only reason i stop from spending is the vast choice. and the nagging voise in myhead telling me to sort the real ones first! : Birthday coming up

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

which thread are we using? I've no idea how that double thread came about, not a very moderator-like move was it? ;D The one I've got is good quality, Modelzone is selling the 1:18 ones at 24.95, and the 1:24 were less than a tenner. A scan around the 'net is showing some really cool little 1:64 ones, but I'm not sure how much you'd pay in the UK.

There seems to be quite a following for these old classics with 'bling' wheels. I saw a 1/64 Datsun GC10 Skyline with a similar treatment. Norev do a similar set but with modern cars.
I'd almost always consider the internet to buy toy cars, like so many things they're so much cheaper, but the supermarkets particularly Tesco's, Asda etc sell them very very cheaply. My local Asda where selling Hot wheels for 49p for a while last summer. Thats cheaper than what I was paying for them when I was a kid!

They look great! But I impulse bought a bag full of models in the USA last time I was there, Johnny Lightning cover car series, Jesse James signature stuff... Ooh, then I bought a Fujimi Silvia and Tamiya Zakspeed Capri to make some sort of drift/euro/track kit... But I haven't built a kit in twenty years and don't have any time. No shelf space and... Oh, top models though ;D

there was a guy at wheels day selling those. i was so close to buying the black bug one, but what they have done with the doors destroyed it imo. cool models never the less tho!

Corgi Vanguards make some superb looking models, nice to finally see an Avenger in model form. The MK2 Cavalier and Marina look great too.

I'm always stuck for prezzie ideas at birthdays, about time I started collecting something I can pass down to the grandkids - who will probably ebay it kinda thing i'd feel bad buying myself, but looks too nice to resist. the samba especially is really well done, or at least appears to be.
