Really, I have a feeling in my water.
I have had a call from the guy who has bought my Mustang, you will remember the Mustang which has this fault where it seems to run out of petrol. A fault which I mention in the eBay listing along with a suggestion that maybe its fixed, maybe its not fixed.
Anyway, my winning bidder is from Austria.
“I fly to Luton, I get train to Nottingham, I get bus to you then I drive back to Vienna. I like mad trips”
Oh dear.
There are just so many ways in which this can go horribly wrong. I've told him to get breakdown cover. This really is going to come back and bite my ass I can tell. Midnight phone calls “We are in some place, I don't know, I think it is Basingstoke, can you come now please” etc.
I've just emailed him strongly suggesting he comes in a tow car and trailer.

No, it doesn't sound good... But fingers crossed everything goes according to plan.
A year or so ago my mate sold his Mini to a guy in Poland on ebay. I told him the story about the guy who sold his BMW to someone from poland, and a 40 foot trailer arrived to collect it, with no ramps (I think the thread was on here).
So a few days later, this 40 foot trailer arrived outside my mates house. And yes, they didn't have any ramps. Luckily my mate is a builder so he was able to make some out of scaffold and planks so didn't have the problem the other guy had. But his heart did sink when the wagon arrived.

if you have said that there is a known fauilt with the car that MIGHT be fixed then you have no should have no problems you have told him about the fauilt and you can suggest that he should have looked at the car before he bought it

I sold my Landy Lightweight recently, the guy flew over from Sweden... then drove round Cambs & Norfolk, to Dorset, then Kent. Ferry to Holland, and drove to N. Sweden. The thing had no door seals, and other sundry draughts, canvas top, and only a comedy heater to fight them.
Although it's down to the buyer, ya can't help feeling a bit of nerves like... ;D waiting to hear of the trailer/relay/large bits falling off somewhere in Europe etc.
(It did make it fine, though left a snail trail of Wilcos finest 20/50...)

Just make sure you have cash from him, and check the notes with one of those 'fake note' marker pens. Would hate for you to end up with a load of convincing but fake £20 notes (alot of them going around)

I wouldnt worry about it,
this wont be the first time the chap has done this
I sold a rangie on ebay for a friend, a 1981 range rover I might add.
he yoked up a 3 axle trailer to said rangie and went to collect another range rover, then drive the long way round to holland
another dutch bloke came into our garage with a 90 he bought to drive home in, it was running like a bad of hammers, they don't go back to the owner and say fix it
its probably so cheap with the euro exchange rate it could be on fire and still be cheap

Maybe write a full note when he collects it saying that he's fully inspected the car, and is happy to continue the purchase, but make it totally clear that there isn't any form of comeback/recourse if the back axle dropped out at the end of your street?
Make two copies, both sign each, one for you, one for him.

I will give him your details with pleasure. PM me an estimate of Nottingham to Vienna! I'd happily do it but the length of my truck makes it uneconomical on the ferry cost , If i was doing that journey in a new car i would make sure i had european recovery .

This Mustang has quite a draw AK. You yourself thought you were mad making the road trip to collect it yourself didn't you?! Interesting to hear about the affect of the Euro on things. I sold a Navara bonnet to a chap in Germany a while back and couldn't fathom how it was worth his while. Last Sunday, a fully laden Navara, towing a fully laden trailer, sailed past and a few minutes later an overly cheerful German dude knocked the door and carted said bonnet off. Was bedding down in Brum and then on to Wakefield on Monday. Spose the exchange rate makes it worth it for him. Obviously likewise when it comes to 'stangs with drinking issues as well . . .
