Hi All
Need your help again.
The under-slung fuel tank on the Celica was beyond hope.
This fuel cell came along cheap and fits a treat in the wheel well.
Problem is the incline from the original fuel filler to the inlet is very shallow (almost horizontal)
I could mount a new flush filler on the rear panel (behind a flip down number plate) this would allow
a steeper flow path into the tank, but still not ideal.
The easiest would be to change the 45 degree filler on the cell to a screw on cap type, and so fill the tank by opening the boot.
Here's an example of the setup...
My question is that surely all the fuel vapours (being heavier than air) expelled when refilling are just going to sit in the boot and pockets. Not particularly safe I figure.
Thing is I've seen so many may setups like this.
My mates boat (V8 petrol) has blowers mounted in the engine bay and bilge which I guess is for the this reason.
It will have a fully welded firewall between the boot and the cockpit regardless of what set-up I choose.
What do you reckon, safe/not safe?
