(Seven 260C Datsuns were advertised on Marksplaats website in Holland. All to be bought as one lot and not individually for sale. Quite a few emails, One Bank Transfer and One Transporter Booked led us to below!) The weather was very cold and it took a fair bit of organisation but was worth it! After getting up at 5am, collecting Swampy and then on to Southampton Airport for a 7:05am flight. Arrived in Amsterdam Aiport at 10:00am local time after being delayed at Southampton Airport due to ice. We had to wait while they defrosted the plane! This put us back about 40 Mins so we had to get a Cab to Bobs house in Holland. Unfortunately for us, the Aiport Taxi's have a monopoly with prices so after a bit of haggling we still ended up paying 120 euros for the ride of just 60 kms! (the meter read 149 euros at Bobs house) Arrived at Bobs house and they had already loaded the Orange 230 and Blue 330. This was in the first Barn. A Mazda Coupe R100 replica fitted with a Rotary Engine.. As we walked into the rear of the Property, on the right were these.. This was our first view of the Cedric's... The Coupe as found.. ...and driving out of the Barn.. Most of the Batteries were useless so we had a mobile Jump Starter, 260C with 48000kms and on LPG, this one I have my eye on.. Early 230 220C column change manual. Green 260C Hardtop, Blue 260C 4spd manual (was french registered and owned by the MD of a Datsun Dealership then sold to his Grand Daughter), and Green 260C Loaded. The Green 220C and Orange 260C (Fitted with a 180B 5 spd Manual Gearbox) both also Loaded. The lower car is a Belgian registered and alledgedly ex diplomat car and is a 220C still with Column Change Manual setup. The Gold one above is a 260C. Bob is the one in the Green coat, Real nice Guy and he even gave us a lift back to Amsterdam. Pictures don't really get any better! All loaded and ready for the Trip back to the UK. Swampy driving the Hardtop to the Transporter.

Are they going to be 'saved' though?
Sorry, but one has to ask.

On the ovalchat thread it says that one 'may' end up being used as spares/raced. I'm sure if it's saveable then Swampy will although 'CROWNJewels' is better placed to say so for sure......

Most racers wouldn't want to race a good car and by the looks of it these are pretty sound.
Could you imagine seeing that transporter loaded with rare old J-tin cruising on the motorway? Spot of the decade! (Almost) regardless of the final outcome of the cars, that's epic dedication!

Yes, Swampy does race but surely you can still be enthusiastic about old j-tin... The 2 door Hardtop is going to be restored and converted to RHD. He has owned this 330 for at least 7 years or so: He also recently purchased this as a restoration project: And has this sat in the Barn awaiting work:

Its an awesome sight to behold, not one you see everyday!
I do wish people would stop saying i hope they don't end up on the track. If you bothered to read the comments you will learn that most are likely to be saved, and perhaps one will end up donating its parts as a donor and end up being raced. I think that was why CROWNjewels was also showing you some of the cars this guy owns.
He seems to have an awesome collection of j tin, this thread made me drool!

been following this thread is on the datsun forum. I'm convinced these were not bought to race, else why would he have the other cars for so long and not race any of those. If he does race one, that will be his decision and I'm sure it will be a rotten old one harvested for parts for the others anyway. Its nice to see banger guys stop themselves when they see something rare, wish more were like swampy and co. Keep us updated chaps!

A banger racer has bought them!! Oh no!!! They're all going to get destroyed!! Get a life. The bloke paid in the thousands for these cars, hired a transporter, then took a trip to Holland to collect them. I frequent Ovalchat on a regular basis, and have been following this story closely, and i really admire this man for his enthusiasm and commitment. Mind you, i also congratulate the people involved in the purchasing of the Ford Fairlane...

There's some excellent looking motors there and hat's off to the pair of them for going to such lengths to bring them to Blighty. I particularly like these two. This hardtop coupe and the 220C on the lower deck, love the front end on it. What's this little beauty that was sat outside?
