Found this whilst looking in a 1980 copy of Hot Car I recently picked up at a rod swap meet, I wasnt even born back then but its cool to read. Seing as there's a rather large imp contingent on here though you guys might wanna have a butchers. Anyways I'll let the picture speak for itself.
Imp "californian"
Rover 3.5 V8, holley 4, mid mounted (only a piffling 175hp) hooked up to a VW variant transmission
Formula 3 rear suspension
Stock front suspension
Spax shockers all round
Larger herald discs on front
Stock chassis and floorpan aside from cage around engine
Fiat discs on rear
0-60mph sub 7 seconds
Top speed 70mph! LOL! quote here...
"the vw transission is designed to be fitted to a car with a larger wheel and tyre combo than Bob is running, which incidently are 8" and 10" minilites with low profle tyres (don't look very low pro from the pics! lol). Consequently the car tops out at around 70mph, but it is the way it gets there which is really impressive"
Bit barmy really, but it looks cool with the wide body kit.
