Dave, you are impressing the hell out of me (again)!! it seems that you can push a big pile of these.......... .........into your garage, press this............. .............and, as shortly afterwards drive out in something looking like this.............. ;D I wish it was that easy sometimes, especially at the moment as it´s f**king cold out here!! ;D

With the inner wing and the "A" Post sorted there were a couple of small jobs that needed doing to finish off this area of the car. primed and sealed with Sikaflex rewelded using the original spot weld holes The edge where it rejoins the windscreeen frame was a bit thin so I knocked up a bit of a repairplate and let it in... The advantage of cutting the scuttle in two is so that I can get in and paint it all before closing it all off but more importantly the wing gets welded in here and I can finish off the whole left hand side without have to do the right hand A post first. I refitted the bonnet to check the gaps and it´s looking good ;D ;D I think once the wing is back on (and that´s going to take me ages as they´re both f++ked!!) i´ll lead load all the welds to make sure it doesn´t start rusting again after a couple of years - that should be fun ;D Before it give it all another coat of primer the front end of the sill needed closing off too... Sorry for the lousy pic but while I was waiting for the heater to catch up a bit I started cleaning up the wing and it´s more rust and dust than metal Sorted..... thanks for stopping by

Whats your preferred brew for painting this lot after welding? Looks like quite a gloopy sort of grey paint.

In the words of that bloke on Scrapheap Challenge "Proper Job" Scrapheap challenge, that´s a very fitting description See now I look at the last two pics the optimist in me says you are a quarter of the way thro Wishfull thinking mate, you haven´t seen how bad the doors and wings are yet Whats your preferred brew for painting this lot after welding? Looks like quite a gloopy sort of grey paint. Richard, it´s a 1K epoxy primer from "Fertan" called Ferpox, you can spray it or paint it on with a brush. It´s mechanically very strong, even with a wire brush in the anglegrinder it´s difficult to get off so should hold up well hopefully I´d put up a pic but i´m getting bandwidth warnings from photobucket

Great to see you back with another awsome project. I'm bookmarking this for many reasons though mainly as inspiration for my own lesser welding efforts. Can't wait to see the result of all this, a worthy car for sure

It also saves me having to drive all the way down south to weld up a rusty VW ;D ;D I´ll rehost all the pics and redo the thread..

I´d rehost all the pics if that helps but i´m not doing it every couple of weeks I must admit when I was a bit careless in sharing pics as well running my photobucket account to the limit - I hit my bandwidth and capacity limit...... Some deletion and time later and I was back in line - might have another free account now too

Continues to be good progress Dave. Cold is not ones best friend, is it. You´re not joking mate, must be getting old eh looking good Dave. I'm stuck indoors today waiting for delivery of my new bearings for my engine so time for a good catch up on all the build threads before venturing out into the workshop to build up the 347 Don´t suppose you´ve got another Ford V8 hiding in the corner somewhere that you fancy selling? ;D ;D I´ll be needing one in a couple of years time..... With a bit of luck all the pics should be working again so i can show you some more rust..... ;D The rear end of the sill, the floor underneath the rear seat, the rear leaf spring attachment to the frame, are all dead!!! The rear chassis rail has also been welded through the Tüv a few times... oops, this is the rear jacking point I´ve kept the rear axle and springs in for time being so that i know how to put all this mess back together. I took out the main spring bolt, lowered the axle down and after taking a few measurements i chopped out all the grot. Fortunately the donor car came up trumps again ;D The "new" chassis rail is also over 40 years old and needed a few local repairs... and with the sill in place i have something i can weld it all back to. ;D
