My dad had a 216GSi when I was younger, which was basically a 4 door GSi.
Apparantly it handled very well and went well aswell!
K-Series prices are going up due to older elises going bang.

There are a few problems, traction? 1.8 in a metro is to much for the car to handle.
if your buying any after market tuning bits and pieces for the k series watch out for piper cams i have heard horror stories of valves hits pistons and that sort of stuff.
I did have a 1.4 rover metro only an 8valve but boy was that fast it would spin the wheels in second . But i drove that into the side of a van at 50mph. they crash pretty well to!!

There are a few problems, traction? 1.8 in a metro is to much for the car to handle. Well getting a 1.8 might be a bit hard and I may have better luck finding a 1.6 216 GSI will have honda engine. I should find something, i should have the car this weekend hopefully:D

well i spose if you have a loom and all the ecu etc i cant see why not... just got to hitch up drive shafts. can get subframes for minis too so could be done , but surly a k series would be a strait swap except wiring

Yea, looking at the costs for a vtec conversion had me in stiches. Serious money to do that. K-Series it is then. What kind of power is a stock 1.6 and a 1.8 putting out? More importantly what kind of 0-60s would you guys guess I'd get from a gutted Metro+Rollcage with either engine?

if your budget runs to it,mg 1800 plenty of stacked ones in the scrappies-check the back issues of retro magazine, they've featured a few, with the mods your talking about.you could go the non vvc route but upping the power is definately not cheap-throttle bodies etc,and if you do crave the extra oomph check out moto builds website they are the gods of rover tuning ;D
oh yeah vvc 1800 160bhp straight from the box(these can be tuned) people seem to think they can't ;D

What VVC from an mg though? 1.6? Id be bloody delighted with 0-60 in the mid 7's VVC is the more powerful 1.8 - 160 bhp in MG ZR / TF, 140-ish in Rover 200/25 or MGF. This is what you need - God bless people listing cars in the wrong category on eBay with no reserve, eh? Failing that, VVC Tomcats always seem to go for next to nothing, and you'd probably make most of the money back breaking the rest of the car for spares...

I'd go for a standard engine from anything 95 onwards. The standard 1.6 makes 111bhp which wont be to shabby in a Metro. Plus as i've said before there pennies, i don't know where you lot are looking but i'd not pay more than £200 for an un-mot'd example of say a '96 car...
I'm sure you'd prob pick up an engine for around £75 from a scrappies like Looms in Derby, but then for the bit extra you'll have the whole car and loom etc...

Seeing as I'm currently suspended from OCUK (for use of the word 'wank'), I feel it necessary to share this:
Never has one person been so wrong...But I really do find it hard to trust the automotive opinions of a 21 year old man who bought a Mondeo because of it's trim level, who aspires to owning a 530D and maintains that any car over 7 years old that isn't a 'classic' is a banger...
Anyway - Who is Commited? Make thyself known!

This was Fox's reply to Commited's rebutable about the old banger comment.
Suspened for curse word? Thats ridiculous. They changed 'curse word myself laughing ' to 'weeing myself laughing' in another thread. Quite stupid.
