Ventora project still managed to amaze me how long stuff can take. This is the replacement bonnet. I have spent three evenings rubbing this bleeder down now (OK I only spent about an hour on it this evening though) Its amazing how many bits of little scabs and surface rust you find when you look And you have to rub the sods down. Or at least I do. Tomorrow I can get a whole evening in on it and finsish the rub down and prime the reverses of the bonnet and boot. Thats the plan.

Top work, just think all the rubbing down pain will be worth it when its gleaming at CARS. I have to say that colour is gorgeous. Is it harder to spray metallics than solid colours?

I'd love to know what colour the bonnet actually is. Its lighter and slightly golder than the actual colour of the car originally. It was resprayed years ago on another car (now thats a story in itself). I'm thinking of Vauxhall Rio Verde which is a mid 1990s colour not far from what the bonnet is.
I'd like to have the car doe for CARS. I'd like to have it done in a few weeks really. Whether that happens or not depends on what happens when it starts going back together. I have no money to do anything with the interior at the moment.
Metallics are a little more effort than solids. You need to shoot a clear coat, you can't rub them out if they run without recoating and you have to be a little more precise with how you mix them and how you apply them to avoid colours being bandy or blotchy, but its not so tricky.
