If it's their car they can do what they want with it. If people are so bothered about it they should have made an offer they couldn't refuse.
As ever car snobbery only ever goes as far as money and then people suddenly go quiet.

Yeah yeah, that’s what the banger boys always say, and fair enough, no-ones denying that ‘its their car and they can do what they like with it’, that rule always stands. It’s a very mediocre answer though. Why smash up something rare and desirable just cos you can? In this case theres probably loads of people who would love to, but are simply unable to afford to buy that car, its hardly worthless. The wreckage is up to $7600 on the bay. That must suck to watch some toss pots take it and smash it to sh*t before your eyes (and those of a thousand whooping ‘John Deere’ hat-wearers) for a laugh.
Unfortunately theres always going to be folk with a few quid thinking up ‘inventive’ ways to spend it publically and this is one of them.

I believe form stories elsewhere that money was offered for the car and even an alternatve car was offered to be jumped.
I also agree with Mr B's points, most eloquently put.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts
