What a big fat waste.
It wasn't even a creative jump, A 6 month old could come up with better than that!

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Typical. 318s fly better as well, less nose weight...
I have a problem with this muscle car snobbery whish is whats behind this. Jumping a "lesser" car would be less "authentic", same as these guys building G-Machines and pro-street cars (ie basically cut the whole car up and use only the roof and a few body panels) insist on basing their cars around genuine R/T or BOSS or Mach1 or SS cars just for the snobbery of being able to use the original fender tag - why though when you hhave a Viper or aftermarket big block shoved in it, who cares any more if it was numbers matching before hand? Why not leave the numbers matching rare option cars for posterity and cut up a cheaper base model. Shove a repro fender tag on it after if you must.
Another one is people who insist on restoring famous custom or race cars back to stock - The French Connection mustang was at risk, and came inches away from a stock respray over those famous murals. Not to everyones tastes maybe bu that car is a piece of history and the paint is still good after all these years!

Defo, least the could of done is re shot a propper chase scene properly(or did they?) not just some bit of footage of a stunt driver shooting off a ramp. seems some fools gonna buy the car too.

Sad, but not a waste...yeeeee-haaaaaah! ;D Isn't that what Chargers are for? agreed, it got used for is design purpose - not jumping it is like building an steam engine and never getting it up to steam as it might get dirty (as a neighbour of mine did once - 5 years to build then never stoked it up!) What a waste, that was the worst jump I’ve ever seen, they are supposed to carry on going after the jump FFS, not be all tw@tted up, otherwise roscoe would just catch them every week.
They might as well have dropped it from a crane. To55ers.

It pains me to see cars wasted, and my comment about the Chargers may have been a little flippant, but seeing a 'General' fly through the air still makes me grin and I think the Dukes of Hazzard has done more for the survival of the cars than damage them.
As for Granadas and CROWNs they were bangered because they were cheap and plentiful - no-one wanted them. If they're stolen and raced then I'm just as sickened as the next man - but if they're bought legitimately then they're fair game surely?

I'm with Bo11ox and AlistairK on this one, a car becomes something after it's been built by creating it's own history. Otherwise we could all get passionate about new cars... I'm still of the opinion that a car is a car and you can do what you want with it. But that really is just a waste. As for the jump, my cat can do better than that. I believe the term 'bell ends' is called for here

What a crappy jump, don't know what shocks me most, the needless waste of the car, or the fact theres a whole forum dedicated to DoH

That was a complete waste. To ruin an original press car with a rubbish jump, pure stupidity. They could have at least put some bags of cement in the boot like they did in the original series to try and stop the nose diving. If it had landed level, the damage might not have been so bad

The cars in the TV show typically only survived one jump. They used to bend in the middle when they landed.
The DoH had a Charger because they were cheap and unfashionable at the time. Like using a 15 year old Supra or XJS if you filmed an English equivalant today.
Its a waste because 1) its a Warner Bros press car (which I'm not that fussed about, but hey) and 2) its a rare R/T manual Dana car. As its probably worth $50K done right someone will buy it and fix it. Probably require a reshell though and thats dodgy terretory for originality any day of the week.
As a mopar fan I can't help wishing the General Lee had been based on a Mustang!

dumb. ass. don't get, I'm sorry but WHY ? WHY do it to a car that CANNOT be replaced. Ok, so no car can really be replaced but as Alistair says - why matching number cars ? get a scrapper and tart it up - it hardly needs to be roadworthy to break it !

quote from the site: kids started throwing rocks at the doors, not too long after the car landed. That was very un cool cause their parents were not too far away, they just kept telling them to stop
Seems it's funny to trash it but "HEY!, QUIT THROWING STONES !!"

I just can't get me head round it, simply put Dumb was a good word, marina V8. I'm sure this has been done before too. I actually believe that our generation love these Chargers cos of the programme, and believe that they are indestructable after seeing a bunch of stunts on the show pushing prices mad! Blasting round a dirt back road in one is on my (would like) to do list but on the show you can see or hear em crunch on landing at times. As much of a fan as i am, I too am flumaxed that there is a DoH club!

And theres an event every year called Dukesfest... 1000s of people go. Its down south somewhere by where they filmed the show. Every year they stage a jump and destroy another charger. However they buy some rotten nail, wob it up with filler and remove any usable parts first.
