Anyone used it? Whats the score with it, and does pay pal work ok etc?
Looking at some new front speakers, and in the usa they seem to have more 4x6 options, as opposed to the jbl/infiniti ones available here....

I've bought stuff from ebay.com, and sold stuff to US ebayers. Never had any problems. Just beware of PayPal's exchange rates - they're unlikely to be the best value. Also, if your buying from a private seller, try and get them to mark the package as a "gift" - that way Customs don't hold it up whilst they figure out how much to fleece you for, and you wont get a nasty fee to pay at the collections depot

I've had a few bits off eBay.com and haven't had any hassle. The sellers have all been willing to ship to UK and had paypal accounts so payment is easy. In most cases you do need to check first for postal costs. And be aware that you *may* get stung for additional duties when you recieve your goods if they above a certain value (and that value is quoted on the customs label).

cool, cheers for the info.....how much can these additional duties be? And generally are the sellers ok to mark it as a gift?!

depends on the seller. Private sellers are much more inclined than business types I think the import duty is something like the VAT rate i.e. 17.5%....

AFAIK it's just VAT, so 17.5%
When I got my MegaSquirt kit the fee was about £17 and I paid about £100 for that.

gifts attract the same rate of VAT & duty as normal packages. Some sellers get really arsey if you ask them to write a low value or gift on it. Also if your parcel gets mangled youonly get the value they wrote down on the customs ticket as your compensation.
About 1/3 of the stuff I bring in attracts duty. Total sod when it does, but those are the breaks.
Also depends on the size of the parcel. The larger the box the more likely you are to get caught for duty & tax.

"Gift" makes no difference. Over £50 and the Customs man wants you to pay.
"Used car electronics, value $20" should be OK for speakers and you're unlikely to get caught.
Ebay.com is the bad boy of Ebay. I remember the days when there was only Ebay.com and I spent a lot of time at the post office buying US dollar drafts and cash dollars. Pre-Paypal, pre-Ebay.co.uk were the days of major auction bargains!

Yup, I signed up when you got a personal welcome from Pierre.... LOL Some great days back then. Very much smaller site... You could browse through all the "accessories" section in like 20 pages....
Anyway, you will also pay duty, not just VAT. Duty rates vary from 6% to 10% for the stuff we're likely to be buying. VAT is charged on top of the item, the duty and the shipping.
Its fairly safe to say that a $50 item is a £50 item by the time its in your hands, depending on how heavy it is for shipping.
