What are you blathering on about now!!!! ;D Why not just stuff the modern face off in the glovebox and fit a 'dummy' unit in the fascia. It might even be possible to hide a modern behind a bit of trim in the centre console, but I'd have to have a look first. It'd be quite feasable to knock something up to cover the 'face off' panel when not in use as well... but making it actually work with the stereo controls will be ticky. PS. I have a couple of 'twirly nob' stereos knocking about

I came across some awsome looking stereos on Ebay a while ago. A guy is basically slicing the front of some old chromey 60's and 70's stereos and getting them to fit in place of the face from a modern face off. That way you use the modern stereo when you're driving but when you're parked stick the genuine old style face on to disguise it. I think he was using cheapy CD head units and they were about £80 or £90 all in. ;D

you can buy 'fake fronts' that clip over the new stereos face, presumably for those with non face off stereos to hide the fact theres a decent stereo under there. don't sell them in maccess anymore tho, but id imagine with a bit of rooting around on t'interweb youll find something. they were about a quid too

I put the new head unit in the glove 'hole' (povo spec dosent have a door on the glove box) on the fiesta. I'm trying to pursuade one of my electronicly minded freinds to wire it up throught the remote so the volume and tuner/track is changed through the original radio knobs! I know its possible as we used to do simlar things with computers but elcetronics isnt my strong point.
I also hid 2x 6x9 speakers and 2x 12" subs under the boot carpet! it baffles people when they look in the car expecting to see a massive Halfords 'chav bass box' in the boot but its totly empty and the car has a 1980s MW radio. LMAO

Get an old-ish Nakamichi deck, mega quality and they kept them 80's style for a long time after the 80's ended! A lot go for daft prices but you can get some nice ones under £50.
