...that people actually put cars on bricks and stole the wheels...but no!
on my paper round this morning i saw a white transit van with two of its hubs on the road and some bricks under the cars...some thugs have stolen two of his wheels during the night. what i cant understand is that just behind the transit was an octavia elegance with 17" 5 spoke alloys, yet they choose to nick some transit steels? does locking wheel nuts stop this kind of stuff?

I've just taken the bins out and noticed there's a Megane on bricks just down the road - but they've gone and left one wheel on it.
If you see a Reliant Rialto on 15" Renault alloys, give me a shout.

Used to be very common 'round here. I remember my Grandad's four year old Capri Laser having two of the wheels nicked, but the idiots just dropped the car on the floor, bending the floorpan. Nice! Good ol' plod said "If you see someone with two of those wheels on their car, you might as well pinch 'em back, they're probably yours". Excellent policing! ;D

Transit steels... travellers, or knackers over here, worked in a ford dealership years ago and new Transits were a regular target, especially chassis/cabs,mostly just the spare wheels, easy to miss until the van is sold.

Shocking isn't it, even if its screwed down...! Saw a bit of that while studying in Leeds. Ive always had basic lockers on mine, i'm not sure if they'd serve a purpose if i had posh wheels, will be put to the test soon....

Some schmuck tried to pike one of the wheels off my land rover recently (presumambly for the expensive 'mud tyre' it was sporting temporarily. Came out to find all the studs loose. I have a very good idea who was responsible. I know that it must have been sabotage and not just my own crapness as I'd done them up the day before with an air gun....

I think if you catch someone in the act of nicking your wheels you should be within your rights to shoot them in the face with a cannon, blunderbuss, AK-47 or similar.

Transits are traveller wagons so always get the wheels robbed for the shoes. I caught someone having the skull valves caps off my BMX once, went to chase him with something large and metalic in hand, and he got on my bike and proceeded to ride off, so I grabbed the seat post and his testicles met the cross bar with a great pace. I then rode home, smug

thieves arent so condisiderate round here, i was interupted one night by 3 lads having the wheels of my old mans mondeo, presumably for the brand new 16" tyres it was sporting (on steels)
2 lifted the back end up while one pulled the wheel out and let the car drop on the floor.
they was on there second wheel when i heard them. they done one in similar mondeo.
couldnt chase them cos the car was missing a wheel and it blocks the drive off to stop the escort getting off the drive (incase of thieves)

Bloody hell! I was scared to park my Mk1 Golf anywhere already 'cos it has nice wheels, now I'm really scared! Must get some rusty steels for it with 'budget' slicks...

Did anyone see the first episode of Revved up (chaved up)? Mr Brewer fitted a frankly gash set of muliti fit alloys to the wheezing 1.4 MG they had, and the show ended with him finding the car on bricks the next morning. Just thought id throw in a positive example of wheel steeling.
However apart from it happening to Mike Brewer it is terrible and dangerous, my dad set of down the road to find one of his wheels was missing 3 nuts. The worst i have had to deal it is valve cap theft by small children. i didnt give chase, the reality of being stabbed to death by 7 year olds with flick knives did not apeal! I wish id had my cannon

It's something I worry about, although (touch wood) it hasn't happened to me. I've had 2 sets of valve caps nicked, and the star off the front. I'm reluctant to fit locking wheel bolts though, as I've never found a set that isn't utterly sh!te and made of toffee. I don't fancy being stuck at the side of the road with a flat tyre and one sheared off locking bolt...
That said, I don't fancy being stuck at the side of the road with no wheels either.
I agree with Mr_B: facial adjustment by blunderbuss should be allowed in such circumstances.

I haven't heard of wheel theft for years It use to be common in 80's round my part of the world but since Alloys have got cheaper it seems to be less common. ...knowing my luck for saying this, I probably find the wheels missing of my cars ;D

Whilst my car was in for its mot (after it had been tested and was waiting to be fetched) Someone had a go at stealing my wheels. " A lot of play in the steering now" i thought after getting the car back. Luckily i checked the wheelnuts, it had still wrecked the bolt holes tho, cheeky little swines.

Swines!!
It's not nearly as bad (but very irritating).... When I took my car into the local BMW specialists to have the clutch master cyl done, they added on the sheet that one of the centre trims from my wheels was missing. WTF! It was there when I dropped the car off! I suspect that they have some traveller clientele!!!

at the bodyshop where i worked we were forever having the spare wheels nicked off our fleet of citroen ax's.we ended up putting them in the boot for safe keeping.even then one dozy punter tried to claim it got nicked from underneath, until we pointed out we left it in the boot on purpose, then she miraculously found it in her garage( with her citroen ax) .vw LT luton are a fave target for traveller wheel thieves too
