I love the idea of these. I would really appreciate it if you could continue the theme you've started with a step-by-step guide almost. I need to convince my father-in-law to get one of these built and installed in his garage/workshop as he desperatley needs one. Oh yeah, parents-in-law live in Nova Scotia Canada and in winter it regularly gets down to -35 outside. Last year we had -47 so one of these would be perfect.

I've cut several up now, and wouldn't attempt it without first brimming it full with water, after leaving it stood upside down for a few weeks with the valve turned on !

Yeah a good step by step would be great. I'm cracking on with the shed rebuild in a few weeks time and a nice lil stove is a must....

cut top right off with new grinder then use top as a bottom like so then put silly face on where you want to cut (you may or may not what to do this) where the face is i will put a small gas bottle (for a oven) then mark out on large piece of steel the top and mark for chimney so it would look something like this hopefully more tomorrow

Cool progress.
At 30 x 30 foot, with a open pitched roof, my garage is going to be cold this winter.
Will be watching this closely.

are you venting the chimney anywhere outside or just leaving it with the 2ft pipe on there??

Yes the chimney will be going outside thats in maxlee's hand's i cut the top last night and cut the chimney and welded them together then welded a baffle in place hopefully later on today i will cut the hole out for the oven and may be making back boiler for it

Mine is a bit more basic than yours, but it keeps the garage more than warm enough. In fact, if i slap a bit of coal on it I can get it hot enough to smelt ally pop cans down when i have a weighing in session

Some parts of the bottles have a galvanised coating, so make sure you grind it off before welding

Great job these, I still havent been allowed to fit mine by the landlord but that doesnt stop me! I like the idea of your wee oven on there plus it'll act as an extra baffle
