Hi, was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on lowering a w123
Its a 84 280ce coupe, i have been looking around and the lowest springs available give a 50mm drop.. is this going to low enough.. not really wanting to cut the springs as its a daily and nice car.. does anyoe have any pics of 50mm lowered mercs.. bit unsure what to do as they are £180.. planning on running 16 or 17 splitrims
Any help, pics advice much appreciated
cheers Jim

I could be wrong , but , i guess with 50mm lowered spring`s it could sit at the same height or higher than it does now . This is due to your original spring`s having over a tonne on them for 26 year`s .
A fellow w123 owner . ;D

give these chaps a bell. www.coilsprings.co.uk/they made my front ones, which i then cut more off to get it where i wanted it. cutting them wont cause any ride problems, unless you go really low. [pimp] heres mine [/pimp] next to benzboys stack light.

I had -50 springs in mine. They needed some adjustment. I think I ended up with a coil off the back and a coil and a half off the front, but it might have been half and one. I didn't notice any real detriment to the ride or handling with the cut springs. I was about as low as might be considered sensible, but having said that there's plenty who have dailied much lower than mine was. I've still got a front and rear windscreen and N/S door if you want to make me an offer

Whilst you're buying the springs you might as well get some new CV joints for the rear drive shafts, as these will wear out very quickly once you've lowered your W123.
