Thats a shame.
He must be some operator, buying a £300 sierra in Nottingham, coughing up to travel all the way from aberdeen to collect it, driving it home then sticking it on the bay 2 weeks later for £250. See you later money!!!1

Thats a shame. He must be some operator, buying a £300 sierra in Norwich, coughing up to travel all the way from aberdeen to collect it, driving it home then sticking it on the bay 2 weeks later for £250. See you later money!!!1 The story goes, he's had it aroud a year, got it from a mate in Norwich (or was it nottingham?) as a means of paying for a debt. If i could afford the difference in insurance because of the modification, id be interested although it was me that had to pry to find out about the mod as all dvl records showed it to be a 1300cc, it might have been better if this was mentioned before hand because it makes a massive difference to the cost to insure. Oh well still hunting franticly for a nice cheap usable retro.

don't mean to put a further dampener on this but .... normally Ford engines are ten a penny and also normally in this case would suggest buying it, refitting the original size engine and it no longer counts as modified, however the 1300 engine will have been a pinto, and 1300 pintos are rarer than almost anything thing else you care to mention.

Not over here! I can get a 1300 pinto if you want one. I think.

Thats ridiculuous! You'd think they just put summat better than a 1600, or convert the 1600. Before you give up hope, 2 more other options. 1. lie and insure it as 1300. 2. (if you havent already) ring the likes of adrien flu, lancaster and other specialist insurers... there is more of these out there and more options too.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

I thought about lying But its best not to, it could just lead to bother. Good suggestion though I have been trying lots of different insurers, most of them charge a fortune just because of the simple modification but i will try a few more. At the end of the day, il find something else soon hopefully
