well, now shes MOT'ed i have turned my attentions to cosmetics and the like before i tax and insure her.
after the mot she looked like:
the first thing i needed to do was text my college project exhaust manifold, so i quickly welded together a crude side exit pipe (had alot of trouble MIG welding very high quality stainless) ... and wired it onto the chassis .
definite performance improvement! it went like the clappers!!!
i then started on with the fun stuff, lots of little jobs to do like sorting wiring, getting the steering wheel on strait, bleeding the brakes.
The previous owner had fitted a oil pressure and volt meter gauge he had put routed the earth for the back light (fiberglass car) all the way along the dash, through the bulkhead, around the engine bay to the other side, and onto the negative of the battery!! I simply cut it and put it under the fastener for the Gauge next to it where all the other earths go...... all sorted and about 2meters of wire removed.
once all that was done it was time to beat it with the stick!
this involved fitting these:
this claps around the chassis on two m12 bolts and the front of the leaf spring then bolts through it.... then the little m8 bolt in the middle screws up through, and locates into the chassis rail to stop it all moving.
this then meant the dampers where bottoming as it was about a 2 - 4" drop. so this meant i had to make up new damper mounts that which lowered the bottom of the damper down about 2" to given e some travel back.
then i bought a roll of fablon, and went sticker crazy...... oh and i wound the front down about 10mm on the coil overs.
and the roof:
and heres some of the interior - which needs a good clean. the MOT man couldn't resist leaving big phat black finger prints on my lovely tan seats! good job my brother works for chem-dry!
note the cord door cards....!
and heres some pics of it with its big brother (dads scimitar):
check out the 10x5 cobra super slots against 14x6 superslots! ;D
so, in the future expect to see it on skinnier rims and closer to the floor at the front! and some kind of fiberglass satin black splitter (Mk1 golf style) if being considered.
need to stop the windscreen leaking around the bottom of the seal then i can refit my head unit, aiming to have it insured by mid to end of next week.
