Buying a BMW or a Bentley & looking cool is easy, but the credit doesn't go to you.Taking an unloved car that cost £500 & making it good enough to get photos in magazines or stand out alongside cars that cost one hundred times more is a skill reserved for us loonies!

That new van is awesome want to build something similar myself in the near future. Erm there was a build thread on uk-hotrods years ago but probably long gone now, bearing in mind I did that lot from being 14 to 17 and haven't touched it since Think the photos are still on the PC at my mum and dads will try and get some pics off it. I'm still quite proud of what we achieved seen as i'd not designed anything from scratch before. It's just that inexperience that led to us overbuilding everything. Most of the box section used was 3mm wall wheras if I did the same now i'd go to 1.2mm wall max for most of it. Matt

Thanks Matt Be nice to see some more pics of yours. Yeah id be proud if i were you, obviously a ton of graft gone into it. Be a shame to pull it apart to redo it but i know where you are coming from..... Back on topic, the suggestion of MX5 power sounds interesting....

Thats what i'd put in if I was doing a "stock shell" modified version. I need to stop looking at this thread I keep thinking of buying another and this is far too tempting.

Matt you find that tempting, ive got a stock, mostly rustfree 100e prefect parked outside, along with all the bits to do the suspension, brakes and wheels boxed up in the workshop!!! i was also planning mx5 power, or maybe 4age as ive already got one. cost of a gearbox is putting me off there though. i really must finish some of these others first though.........it one for 2012!!

Thanks Scott was a great little car Dez, the blue saloon was on 195 55x13 pirellis on 8" rears & 175 50x13 conti-sports on 5.5" fronts in those pics. (though i wasnt keen on the 175s & wanted 165 60x13s-it seems they are unobtainable now though) The van runs 175 65x13s on 6.5" rears (to try & gear it up a touch) & 165 65x13s on 6" fronts. These are Kuhmo budgets all round. I really must finish some of these others first though.........it one for 2012!! I presumed you had sold your Prefect, might make a good little side project but i wouldnt want you to take any time off from the others!.... Looks like i shall be eagerly waiting for 2012 then. ;D oh & Matt, i hope that shell is on your watch list!

hehe - I actually have at the moment! - I quite fancy a 100e again myself, but I wanted to get one with a running sidevalve (to pull out as a spare for my 103e, then drop a reliant 4 cylinder (ya rly!) and box into the 'e' - el cheapo daily driver FTW - I reckon the reliant and box would go in no bulkhead cutting, should be able to cobble a prop together, big blocks and cut springs for the drop, and a set of citroen steelies - 13" front, 14" rears, maybe reversed? might have a go at that one if it stays super cheap though, as pwlleli isn't too bad a run away ;D lmk if you're going to go for it matt, or if you want to book a lockup corner!

Almost on the road: b11 sunny breadvan, e36 tds, 325i skidcar,
nearly there: ford f250 tathauler, suzuki alto, u11 bluey
not for a while: ford pop, 32 rails,
not in this lifetime: ruby, '29 hillman
''unfortanatly I'm quite old and scruffy and in need of some loving. my drive shaft needs a new boot....''

Classic would be sweet, 2.0 Zetec on bike bodies would be pokey enough 100e is a bit to common as a hot rod car to be sleeperish IMO
