Fake is fake, I say, doesnt compare to the real stuff (wich also gets kinda old after a while, I love shiney paint ) Fakers will be fakin, haters will be hatin`, and so on Remember kids, the important thing is how YOU want your vehicle to look

I think the real patina in the UK is bonnets where the lacquer is peeled off, or this:

heres a couple of my mk2 polo, which started rusting away after I crashed it in 2003, which is why the car is dented and I don't run a front grill. the cracking on the paintwork is natural, as I sprayed it with cellulose and too thick, so its still drying out. it started cracking about 5 years after I painted it and just kept cracking. the grey vertical streaks from the front of the window and door lock is the rust going down the panels and is iridescent in real life. it takes time to build up, but you cant wash the car or you remove it.

This was mine.....and was all real, the result of about 15 years in various barns... I bought that with the intention of doing a kind of hot rod-inspired lead oxide/cream theme...but fell in love with it the way it was. Shoulda kept it.

^^^ exactly you cant fake the patina, its not about the rust, anyone can do that to a panel, its about the history of the car with the knocks and scrapes as the car grows older.

You don't have to worry about rust with GRP motors but both of mine seem to have acquired lots of patina already...guess that comes of using them ...and hard.
