It's all Mako's fault. Started looking in the 620 folder after I mentioned the Hot Rod mag that arrived yesterday when I unearthed this lot which I thought ought to be shared. Scanner's working hard this morning...... Portugese brochure? Not sure if 4dr was a standard Japanese model. Japanese 4-seat model, from Yahoo a few years back. French-built custom, from good old Chrome & Flames. This camper was in the UK. Loads of 620 kits around, this one of the more silly.

Ratdat's camper, just before he acquired it. Was part of the Datsun show at my wedding Apparently performance not good (wild understatement) - standard engine for UK was J15, I think some sort of derivative from BMC B-series. US got L-series OHC units (as Bluebird and other cars). In US they got chassis-cab models, making it easier to fit camper bodies like this...... Or this stakeside bed. On with the customs, this one US-built. Not so keen on the single lights, but polished tube grilles are always good. US drag racer.

Beds rot out on them, hence conversions like this. Ratdat bought this one, minus engine. This one was for sale in Essex a couple of years ago, wonder if it survived the exporters? Looks tidier than it was in reality. Farm where my dad worked had one this colour new in '76, we used it to move house and sometimes I got taken to school in it. Walker conversion offered in the UK. Did a higher top version for weekend camping (for very short people).

Another shot of the Hot Rod featured Datsun US custom. One of my favourites.

Top grammar tips! Bought = purchased. Brought = relocated Lose = misplace/opposite of win. Loose = your mum

DVLA site says the blue one is on a SORN somewhere so its probably not been exprted. Interesting, there's some hope for it then. This is another pic, not sure of which bit but not exactly healthy. Makes the 504 look solid?

Does that say 'SUZUKI HUSTLER' on t'back? *n As Slater said, more pic's in the other thread. Apparently it's an RM125 on the back. Some sort of joint promo thing? Not overly keen on the black bed, but I suppose it's meant to echo the bike. A few more...... I think the popular quad rectangular lights are ex-Chevy Monza.

What was the UK doing to their 620s? Hmmm, too much time going for the truck look? Bullbar looks a little insubstantial..... HA van on Cosmics in the background looks interesting. Edit: Maybe not Cosmics? Not quite sure what they are. 4wd conversions used gubbins from the States. Until the Hilux there wasn't really anything similar here. At least this one got a V6, yellow one below ran the stock J15. Think the Leyland competition is the Princess/Allegro/Sherpa styling competition mentioned in another thread. This was for sale in SM about 10 years ago, anyone know where it went? Sorry about quality, they were very small pic's. This 620 was pretty much brand new when it got the paintwork. Mr B, perhaps you could add some typically French murals to the 504? Man on bike with onions, Eiffel Tower, that sort of thing? Saved the best until last? Special Delivery was built by the same team who did Transformation, which means they can do no wrong in my eyes. Although my magazine buying didn't really start until 1982, I must have had this 1980 copy of CC because I remember it and the other cars featured very well. It also featured in SM, and maybe Hot Car too?
