Bit o help needed here,
basically My 97 T4 is refusing to start and the recovery people have told em there is an elec fault to the diesel pump thus no diesel reaching the engine ect
So my question is can i do the following.
Take a 12v feed direct from the battery to the pump, taking out all other wiring to check the pumps ok?
if that works can i take it a step further by adding a fuse and a switch so i can turn it on and off manually and have it protected?
what do you think?

quick update to this.
ive installed a switch and fuse between the battery and diesel pump, replaced teh glow plug but the van still wont start.
there is a drain somewhere as i put a new battery on it tried cranking over and it wont catch, then came back the next day and the battery was flat.
is there some kind of solenoid on the diesel pump i can test??

The pump may be coded. on the end of the pump is there a black casing fitted to the end of the pump with 2 wires goin in to it if so the fuel cut off solenoid is in there. if the solenoid is working you will hear it click when you turn the key. if you have to replace the solenoid the black plastic casing and code board will probably break getting them off but if you fit a new solenoid just connect the black/purple wire that went into the casing strait to the solenoid and that should do it.

still having issues, the pump isnt coded, just 1 wire going to it +12v.
found the drain, the power rail across the glow plugs had moved and was shorting to the block, moved that out and it started, moved the van and now there is another drain, so ive reconnected the original ignition circuit back up and am charging the batt over night, then will have to spend sat going through it all again!!!
