starting a puch with 70 cc: you walk and place your upper body on the seat (so the back wheel doesn't slip cause of the high compression) than squeeze the starter handle. But i feel for you man, every time it doesn't work it is something stupid. You need to spend more time @ puchforum. Look it from the bright side: you have learned something again. When you buy an new engine, you need to grab hold of the flywheel and shake it. If it moves, the bearings are gone. And if it starts really rotten, your ignition is off. And maybe your jet is somewhat to big. Because if a ignition is set properly, you can even start like this:

Yeah, I know that you need to put weight on to stop the wheel locking its just when it cuts out all the time and doesn't start, running up and down the road then jumping on the peg and pulling the lever for it to just 'put put put' to a stop is highly demoralising and really tiring! Especially in bike gear and helmet on a hot day! I'm amazed that orange one starts so fast, I'm gonna have to give that a go! I probably should spend more time on the Puch forum, I think I will - google translate seems to uninstall itself from my browser bar all the time ;D I'm looking forward to stripping it again for some reason, it may well be because the sun is out and it is nice and warm at this precise moment! I'm definately looking forward to matching the ports and I think I might get a bigger selection of jets so I can trial and error them in terms of performance. Have you matched the ports on your Puch? I'm hoping I can keep this enthusiasm up, the ace bars have helped I think there is still some mojo left somewhere, now where did I leave it? ;D

Lets have a pic with the ace bars on Dave, the praise may lift your pecker?! Give me a shout if you need a hand Think my Italjet prob could do with the bearings replacing but I have to say that ain't gonna happen, don't mind as long as it runs and rides well.

I'm hoping I can keep this enthusiasm up, the ace bars have helped I think there is still some mojo left somewhere, now where did I leave it? ;D If you are on the puchforum, you can also click right mouse button and click translate there. But i think you can learn a lot from the English speaking corner? The clip of the puch starting with a kick on the flywheel is very well possible if your ignition is set spot on and the jet size is the correct one. Matching the ports: i used to have an engine with that and the one that is ready for the p1 doesn't have it. The pressure with which the air/fuel mixture is pushed towards the spark plug drops. So you might accelerate a bit faster, but the top speed stays roughly the same. Don't know if i already said it, but buy a better exhaustOh BTW, i went to this guy this week to buy a crank of of him, for a friend of mine. He was planning on building a puch, but never finished. He had some nice stuff there, he had alloys for a puch, they were sandblasted and he painted them white, that didn't work out perfect, they were white, but felt rough. So i think he sprayed them white after sandblasting without smoothing the wheel itself with sandpaper And for as far i could see he had a new ebr fork in his frame and there was a exhaust like this lying around. A real proma and not the tecno replica. The sound, looks and puling power is awesome. This is my first p1 BTW. (art in motion, I'd like to call this clip) It may not be the fastest exhaust around, but def one the hardest pulling and faster than the biturbo btw. So don't know if the ebr forks you want to buy really have got to be new? I just cant remember if it was a short or a long version. This one is bought new, placed in a frame and collected dust. I might get a good deal, he told me he tried to get rid of all his stuff, but didn't get it sold. So, this could be a good deal for you: the puch alloys, a new fork with a (if i remember correctly) chrome mudguard and a better more brutal exhaust. I still got this guys number, he also has some parts i want to have. And i think , the more i buy of of him, the more discount i can get ;D So this could be win win for the both of us. I am planning on going there sunday, to take some pictures. But only at the end of the month i can go there and get stuff, has something to do with payday ;D

That sounds interesting! The forks definately don't have to be new, any way of keeping the cost down is good with me ;D how much of a difference is there on the long and short forks? I'd prefer short as I want it to look low with my low bars etc.. but if there's not much of a difference? What parts would you want? The exhaust? Looks like a cool one, the alloys sound good too- are they the same diameter as my spoked ones? Looking forward to the pictures for similar reasons to you, end of the month would be good for me, could do with knowing the rough postage costs too I guess.

there is a 10 cm difference between a short and long one. Alloys are 17 inch, as far as I saw. I have no interest in the exhaust, I already have one of those (you can see on the little you tube clip) I thought it would be more an great exhaust for you. I think your top speed will increase with a few miles, but you will get there a whole lot faster. When your cylinder hits the power band, you kind of get launched from your seat. Called him yesterday and got voice mail. BTW: I haven't done anything to the puch this weekend, have been busy with my little vw polo. I washed it spray painted the little plastic strips of the doorhandles before after Took of the logos and sprayed them black before after This week I am in the morning shift, so I may have some time in the evening for the puch again. I will look in to the costs of sending a package to the UK.

Well depending on final cost (postage etc..) I'm definately interested the exhaust and the forks but only if they're the short ones as I think 10cm extra height at the front wouldn't look too good on mine! The wheels would be great too but I'd worry it'd start to get expensive! Nice tweaks on the polo, never fails to matt black badges did it on my old S13 as well as blacked the indicators out, looks much cleaner! Before: After: Shame my current daily is a £60 Micra that's been pulled to pieces by baboons at the safari park... ;D not that I'm sick of it at all you understand!

Cheers ;D had a fun birthday, my friend bought me this ace book from the 70's - he always jokes that when he's with me I randomly point at cars or bikes mid conversation whenever I see something that interests me (which is a lot!) and as he's not interested in cars he never quite knows what I'm pointing at! He also noted my love of woolen jumpers leading to the fact that I should sue Ladybird for using my image!! ;D I've got a week off this week so pulled my Capri out to work through some issues, I won't go into that in my Puch thread - I'll update my Capri thread to keep it neat. Just thought I'd throw a couple of Puch pics up to keep the enthusiasm up :)I The new drop bars - not cut down yet as I'm going to be fitting new forks at some point so I'll tailor the bars to fit the new forks.. The riding position is so much more intense! This engine is running much better than the old one so it picks up quicker but just sitting on it and rolling down the drive feels like I'm taking part in a drag bike race... Obviously they're a bit too wide at the moment: I'm a little stumped about the bearing noise as its not constant, seems to come and go... I think I'll strip it down soon anyway and replace the bearings for peace of mind. And a front shot: Oh, I also did a burnout on my foot ;D

I love this puch thread,.. And I think it's a credit to you that you haven't sacked it off yet!! It's looking great and I bet it goes well too! have you managed to get it to the point where you can start it with just your foot yet? Have memory of one of my mates doing that once....

This is class Dave, cools pic next to the Capri! As I have seen you close to sacking the Puch off by throwing it in a bush and kicking f**k out of it so I also think it is a credit to you. Incredible lady bird book by the way.

There is no point in chucking it out. That is just throwing away money. At some point, you have put so much money in to it, you need to finish the project instead of selling it. Dave: i must say, please replace the bearings before your flywheel is allowed to much movement up and down and it hits the coils again. I got good and bad news about the puch guy i found with parts. The good news is , he has a ebr low. The bad news is his dad wants to put the puch together. But......there is no crank anymore (i picked it up for a friend) and the puch has no registration. So that might be reasons to not start putting the puch together. Registration costs more than buying a other puch with registration He is gonna discuss it tonight with his dad, so i hope to know more this weekend. on your Capri: ;D It looks f#$%king great. Almost as bad ass as my polo 1.3 with 55 thundering horsepower under the bonnet and my gangster style 13's yeah!!!

Fingers crossed he decides not to do it as I'd like those EBR low forks! And thanks for the Capri based compliments! I'm pushing that bad boy out of the garage at the weekend again to see if I can get to the bottom of my electrical gremlin problems I'll update my Capri thread wether good or bad progress! Oh and hopefully my pics will come back soon think photobuckets has gone an had an eppy ;D Regarding my bearings, I will sort them soon I promise! Just couldn't resist seeing what it rode like with my low bars and then I couldn't resist a burnout on my foot ;D

Sad news, my fellow puch driving/loving friend: he only wants to sell the exhaust and a kick start engine he has lying around in parts.
