Its cbt first, which lasts two years and you need l plates, within those two years if you want to carry on (without l plates) then you need to do your restricted licence. Two parts to this are A1 and A2, A1 is a carpark test around cones, the examiner asks you to perform manouvers such as swerve, figure of 8, emergency stop etc. A2 is a road ride where your followed and observed. Once you complete this you can ride any bike that is 33bhp or below, or any bike restricted to 33bhp. If your over 21 and want an unrestricted licence, you do a extended access test (no idea what this entails) and that allows you to ride anything once passed. thats nice and informative cheers for that Nice and simple to understand, Unlike the proper official info for such matters.... Think i might do my restricted test... Ive ridden/owned motorbikes for years so fine riding.. and you make it sound nice and simple. Any idea on the cost of it once the cbt is done and outa the way?

I know what you mean when you say official info, ive had to go through a load of complicated curse word before i understood it.
I think A1 is about £15, so not much if you fail it, its quite a quick test. If you want training for it its quite expensive, about £70 a day it think.
A2 is more expensive because its about 40 minutes of road ride, and i think thats around £75, but i havent checked in detail for a while.
I plan to do my full test eventually, i wanna do it this year but its a case of summoning the courage!

Useful if you only wanna ride a 50, restricted is great for us though.
I forgot to mention, once you've done restricted, you can ride up to 33 for two years then after two years you can ride what you like.

Annoying that got my license may 2001, missed out by 3 months! So technically speaking I could do my CBT then ride my Puch with no L plates... Although it IS 70cc now so I guess not :/ Anyways, got a good wiring diagram from the chap I bought the switch from, I'll have a go later and update the thread

Well this is said diagram: I've wired it best I can to this but the layout is definitely a bit different. All the wire colours are the same though. I'm going to try and start it up in a bit (i'd do it now but the neighbour I was talking about is probably sat by his window waiting for some noise to complain about so I'll wait till after 10

Ok SOOOO close!
Horn? CHECK Killswitch? CHECK Dipped beam? CHECK! Main beam? CHECK! Lights off? Main beam again!!
My tail light isnt plumbed in yet, would this cause a short and cause this fault going by the diagram?
I never plan on riding with the lights off anyway for safety reasons so from a personal point of view it's fine but Id imagine they'd want to see a switch to turn them off at the MOT station?
Had a go at dropping the idle a bit - but went to far and it cut out as soon as I dropped it off the stand - so I upped it again then sat on it so there was some resistance to the drive and then lowered the idle a bit and it seems ok, I'll leave it a few hours and see how it is to start. Had a sneaky belt up the road, the clutch comes in strong and it picks up speed like a nutcase ;D it also pulls away from a start well which is good as it's tough to pull out of our road in anything!

On closer inspection, in the 'dipped beam' setting on the switch (the middle) the horn is very weak. Other than that it's all good - any one have any idea? Could it be the lack of a taillamp again?

No idea on the wiring now tbh... Yours is sorta baffling me. Mainly due to the moped army wiring diagrams. Which arnt the same as mine, and arnt the same as yours... So god knows what they are for But if it was me id connect the rear light just incase its going to earth when on helps... As for your clutch... What you running? Still the standard 2 shoe one? Ive ordered a 3 shoe and the retaining plate as mine slips like a bast*rd. Also ordered some proper gear oil for it to see if that helps... Got loads on the way.... How long does this moparts usually take to turn an order round?

Think I'll do that, plate should be here tomorrow so I'll wire the light in then (mental note need a bulb ) and see if it works properly then it's very close at the moment though. Clutch is the standard one, doesn't slip when it's on the move and comes in well, I've got some quality Putoline oil in there. The clutch lever however needs a hell of a squeeze to bite when starting but thats down to the adjustment of the lever itself I think. It depends with moparts, usually a week but if you email him he normally let's you know how long he reckons it'll take. Tell him I recommended you ;D I've read that uprating the clutch means it'll fly off the line! They have stronger springsthat don't succumb to centrifugal force till it's revving higher so twist the throttle and BAM wheelie and off you go!

I had that I could pop wheelies, not from a standstill but from say 5 mph, so like a rolling start.

I want to make mine a little longer so i can start it on the stand and the rear wheel be able to turn

Yeah no worries I'll measure it later when I'm back home. Mine had the short stand on too, I just bought the longer one from Moparts. The short one was well dodgy - I don't get the point in it! Don't suppose you know the size of proper motorbike font do you? Here's my plate. Probably no use but it doesn't stop me making a bracket..
