309's had a wider rear axel than the 205's which no doubt made them less happy. Its infact a popular mod to put 309 beams on a 205. I have one myself ready to go on. They share many parts with the 205. Peugeot paid far less attention to the underbody protection on the 309's compared to 205's which is the main reason most 309's are quite rare now. most have rotted away. Shame. even more reason to find this owner lol

One for the trivia fans: The 309 was scheduled to be a replacement for the Talbot Horizon, called the Arizona. PSA pulled the plug on the Talbot brand in 1985 and when the car was launched in October that year, it wore Peugeot badges instead. The UK-spec 1.1 and 1.3 petrol 309's inherited the old 'bag of bolts' Simca engines as used in the Horizon. Only in 1992 did they introduce the 1100/1400cc TU-spec Peugeot engines. [/anorak]

I think the UK build RHD 309's are much worse than the French build ones. You still see a lot of 309's on the road in Finland and with winters with lots of sludge and salt on the road cars generally don't have an easy life here. I've so far had 3 Finnish 309's and only the one I'm using needed welding but that's a high mileage car.

vaughant, any secret pics on your phone as walking passed hehe ?? Well, just managed to beat the light to get these!! Dirty, but very straight car, only bit of rust I could see was a watermark from under the bottom glass seal on the tailgate, nothing really. Straight down the sides. I reckon my dog could break that gearstick lock!!!clean inside though, and only 76000,would say it's very genuine. Again,no rust on the front end, looks very straight, only thing I noticed was a different front numberplate, but the panel gaps look perfect. No visible tax disc, but I can't remember it moving in three years.marks are only green slime from the trees,no major rust, dents or scratches to speak of,very clean and straight. If anyones interested,I'll put a note through the door. I can try and start it with my booster pack too see if it runs for anyone interested although I'd be surprised if it didn't? I'll ask the guy how much for the car if people are serious but if it's a freebie,it's mine!!!

Mrs. Trigger looks like she's playing the saxophone. Which is mostly unrelated. I like 309s.

1989 Peugeot 205. You know, the one that was parked in a ditch on the campsite at RRG'17... the glass is always full. but the ratio of air to water may vary.
