I used to have a 1990 2.0 Scorpio auto salloon. Enormous boot !! Actually a really nice place to be and a lovely smooth wallowey barge. (until the ECU went up in smoke anyways)

I think the bug-eye Scorpio is much more unloved though. I thought this thread was gonna be about those... Strange as i saw an ultra clean one this morn, Dark green and I'm not sure if it was lowered,(looked stock) But the stance was just so right! Looked mean but even next to the modern stuff like 3 series bimmers it still had a presence to it

broke so many of em I cant really get attached to em, the granny has allways sufferd the same as larger barges from BMW and Vaux, no-one wants em, or rather no-one want to pay the fuel bills, you get the usuall "ooo must save that" and then no-one does. Mind you the 50 odd i've broken all went to save at least 2 other old fords (usually cortinas) so I wont be loosing any sleep over it they are destined to be rare cos although a good lump of car for little money they do wibblepoo on fuel while rotting at the same rate as smaller cars that get way more to the mile, same reason there's not many royals (with or without cheese) or BM 7 series, senators ecte ect about. I did love the 2.8 EFI 4X4 though, sure footed and slightly more frugal than the MFi 2.8 but not as good as the 2.9, hated teh 2.0s though twincam may be a decent engine in a sierra but add another 300-500 Kgs and the fuel consumption goes out the window, IMHO 2.3 is the minimum engine size and NOT a V6 version, the larger twin 4 pot the seats are super comfy and hard wearing, i have a compleat granny leather int in m3 Mk3 mind you the leccy deats are bloody heavy ! but leccy back rests is sooo cooolll

Sorry to mention Football but my main memory of that shape Granada was when Shearer signed for Newcastle for the then world record transfer fee, he arrived at St James Park with Freddy Sheppard in one. The footage was on the telly the other week and I couldn't quite believe it!

My Dad had a 2.9 4x4 when I was growing up F444 BCM, he still remembers it as his favourite car, put 100,000 miles on it before changing for a Mundano.

Well, you cannot blame our queen. Well, it is not the prettiest version. I wonder how a clean saloon would look on nice 18" wheels. Most modified Scorpios seem to have lost the plot.

I have a 89 Scorpio that I use for a 150 mile daily commute. Its the 2.0 Dohc engine which is giving me 40mpg and is one of the most comfortable cars ive ever been in. Only really beaten by a Jag. As said previously they are fully loaded and mine certainly isnt a slouch for a heavy car. Certainly quicker than a N/A 2.0 Saab 9000 or my old BMW 520. Highly under rated luxury barges.

I'd love some leather jobbies to stick on swivel bases in the front of my transit. I like all Granada's, I'd buy a Mk3 and prob sell it for the same reason as my old MK2, can't afford to run one. I do want those armchair like seats though.

My Grandad's last car was a full on top of the range with every extras going granada scorpio estate in metalic imperial blue. He used to buy the local dealerships owners company car every 3 years or so when he got a new one and as a result always had mental spec cars. Adored it but he unfortunately put it into a trafic barrier

I'm fitting the whole granny dash and electrics into my van, along with the front seats, twin cam engine and as many of the gadgets as i can, i've stuck with the cloth seats though, leathers not nice without aircon in the summer.

Volvo back as my main squeeze, more boost and some interior goodies on the way.

I think this shape Granada could pull off VIP but it'd be a fine line between tasteful (that silver German one at the top of the page) and looking like a South London Gangster....which thinking about it, may not be a bad thing.
