anyone got any experience of these? ive heard on several occasions that they fit like stevie wonder designed the floor plates although they are £200 cheaper than the equivelant than the next one!

already been quoted £330 from my local spot including door bars and everything including VAT. the only other one i can find is £504 and safety devices one at £700

For that kind of money i'd expect a bit of compromise on the fit. The thing that would worry me though is if its gonna be up to the job our is it more of 'show' cage. If your gonna be depending on it to keep you alive i think i'd go for the dearest i could afford.

well i'd hope its upto the job...it carrys an FIA cert! its also 45mm CDS seamless tube. the reason they don't fit easily is chassis plates that OMP send with the cage are usually a bad fit. made to soem rediculously low tolerance by poor paid italians.
my plan is to buy the omp cage and spend time making it fit nice. then add to it myself with some extra triangulation bits

When researching the roll cage for my car, I did find a fair few people that suggested a FULL cage (I guess yours is, as you mention side bars) should not be used unless you are wearing a helmet.
Couple of caged cars I've sat in does make me wonder - the proximity off my head to some of the roof bars is fairly close. Not ideal in a crash without a helmet.

Well in that case i say do it. I don't really know sod all about roll cages but i know if i was fitting one i'd want it to do the job. Its like most things, theres no such thing as a bargain and if you get something cheap your gonna have to put some work in to make it perfect. I don't think £200 is a bad price for a days welding though

found a pic to be honest that really doesnt look like a nice fit. although having said that it could just have been fitted badly. regarding wearing a helmet, i want to do road rallying, and helmets are illegal for the road....plenty of roll cage padding i think!

I am shocked by that escpecially as I thought after they had gone bust / restarted they had started getting the cages made in the czech republic or some such place.

personally i would always have a cage custom built, plus you have the bonus of the option to have it tech inspected etc. It often doesnt work out much more expensive than buying off the shelf, and when you add in the years of experience and advice that can be offered it makes it a priceless service imho.
chris isaacs, john webster, andy robinson, hausers etc among the best in the business in the UK.

fact is i don't have a grand to blow on a cage alone. plus i cant really travel and drop the car off to get it fitted with a cage.
looking at the pictures ive seen, that cage looks to be fitted on the curse word. its like the cage is sat too low in the car and at an angle

But if you want something that is FIA Approved you need to go with a specialist.
I Didn't and I was barred from track days til one was fitted so althought what I have isn't pretty or FIA approved it is functional, well put together and I'm happy with that

OMP one comes with a homologation certificate. any additional work i put into it has to be referenced and check against section Q of the MSA blue book and aproved by an MSA scruiteneer, who luckily is my dad.

I can only speak about Chris as he is all i have used, but he can usually fit you in within 2 or 3 months. And thats for a large job. Smaller jobs he can squeeze you in much sooner.

I agree, also include Jim Smith, Jon Rathbone, Wayne Allman all of whom are second to none in terms of their output. Personally I'd go to Wayne and see what he could do, the man is a legend and I have no doubt you'd be one-million-percent happy with the outcome...

I forget the exact numbers, but over at a Safety Devices guided tour they told us how much a seat belt or harness stretches in the event of an accident, and how much your neck stretches (it was shocking!) Certainly a point to consider.
