well I said I would have it one day..and I now have ;D bit newer than I really wanted, but it was the right price..! so the plan is a bit of the euro look, but with agood old retro twist! so..time to show you were I'm at with it  this what I had to start with.. rear 1/4 was what looked the worst on it?!(so I thought! :blub: ) after getting it home and starting to pull it apart,i would find more rot! so I pulled the rear 1/4 of,the drivers doorand front wing..to find even more rot :blub: :blub: :blub: so set to it and started welding it all up. rear 1/4 going on.. then rolled the arches ready for some wider rims! then start to do some of the little mods I got planed for it! one thing that IMO has allwas looked silly on mk1 and 2 is the pea shooter style exhuast tail pipe!,the why it hangs down below the rear valance, just does'nt look right :snooty: so..... now.. mine looks like this  well I'm happy with it anyway! so as you might have worked out.. its NOT going back as a standard XR2!! some might say I'm mad?? but I like to do things diffrent.. and thats the plan with this one!

Nice project, nice to see the old Ford's rot just as much as the old Vauxhall's . . . nice to see you doing something a bit different, I had a few XR2's back in the day . . good luck with it - I'll be watching this :-)

How on earth is that on a K-plate? the Mk3 Fiesta came in around 1989/F-reg.
If it hung around in a dealer for a few years I guess it's possible. Either way, on that plate, it's a rarity!

It seems to be a late model one anyway : it has side-repeater indicators, which mostly appeared around 1987.
It reminds me of a Fiesta I went to look at once. "Just needs sills and arches." the vendor said. I could see the interior through the front wheel arch :-(

Hi Pete
Loving the rolled arches, It`ll make a change to see an Xr2 without the arch kit fitted, Looks sweet,
Could i ask a couple of questions about your arch rolling,
Is it just the arch return lip rolled outwards to give the arch more width?
Did you use an arch roller or just a heatgun and a hammer?
Cheers Adrian

(its were panel beating skills come in handy! ) I dress the inner lip back up inside the acrh first.. then dressed that and the outer part back out...to make an extended arch.. easy really! i don't want to go to wild.. just enough to cover some wider rims.. want to try and make little discrete mods that you might not notice at first glance! ;D

Good project you got there! Me and my bro have got a 205 GTI in a lock-up collecting dust - wish we had the knowledge to just go and sort rusty ares, replace a wing and roll an arch! lol

You RUST be joking right?! ;D And yep no way it can be a gen K plate because as far as I know XR2s were only made between 1984-1988 (B-F). So personal plate there even though having a newer plate on an older car isn't legal.. Strange one. Euro - Sounds coooool I'm after the front lower part of the body kit that's missing - Typical! Can't wait to see the progress

Its perfectly possible it is a late registered car, plenty of cars out there like that, sat unregistered for a few years than they should have.

how is this mk2 a K plate? maybe a personal plate? That isn't possible as you can only put a plate on a car to make it seem older rather than newer... I will hazzard a guess that it was left forgotten for some reason then registered late, but at least 2 years late, because mk2s ceased to be produced past 1989. Only way to tell is to look on the V5...

i do love all the attention this gets ;D no its not a ringer.. yes it IS on a K plate.. and YES i have the new (after sending the old one back ) red V5.. and all is as it should be.. it seem's to be one of 2 things.. a very late registerd one or it was put on a privte plate, and it DVLA let it slip the net?? the rear plate looks like its been on it from an early point in its life..its an main dealer plate(vospers of truro..)and don't think thay would stick there name on anything other than a genuine car??! ohh and know this has been up here before but here it is in black and white The vehicle details for K25 RAF are: Date of Liability 01 09 2011 Date of First Registration 13 09 1988 Year of Manufacture 1988 Cylinder Capacity (cc) 1597CC CO2 Emissions Not Available Fuel Type Petrol Export Marker Not Applicable Vehicle Status SORN Not Due Vehicle Colour RED See the reg come's back to a 1988 car.. which is what it is.. it all adds up.. would'nt have bought it if it did'nt ;D
