Well articulated mate. Good stuff to read on a Friday that ups the Mojo for doing something on the car on the weekend. - For me, I am going to get it running for first time in months, drive to the public weighbridge and finally get the curse word weighed to see what all my car diet nonsense has resulted in!

Very nice write up, certainly raised a few things I hadn't considered.

I sometimes wish I wasn't as obsessed with cars as I am. When the curse word hits the fan I sit there thinking "why can't I just be happy driving a bog stock 54 plate Astra like most of my non car mates" but bad days are very very rare.

Nicely written, and makes some great points. You seem to have forgotten one thing - the smell of Castrol Ahhhh (AKA Castrol R). It always takes me back to my Dad's hillclimbing and sprinting days - I spent many a happy hour wandering round the paddocks and watchigncars screaming up Wiscombe.
For me, it's not just my Dad - during my formative years everyone around me had intersting cars. My maternal Grandfather ran a car repair business, and had a dozen or so classics to restore when I was 1 or 2 - in fact, I think one of my earliest memories is sitting in an MG (possibly an A) outside his garage. And my paternal Grandfather worked in the car factories in Coventry. And my Godfather owns both a Pre-war Alvis (special-bodied Firebird) and a Post-war Alvis (TE21).

JuicyPips context: I send out an all-staff email on Friday afternoons with a column (so, this car thing last week) plus various other bits and bobs. Anyway, there was a response sitting in my inbox this morning saying:
I had no idea anyone in my office drove anything like this! Am seeking further info. Anyone recognise the car...?
