i may have finally fixed the oil leak on the buggy. the bolt on rocker covers showed up today and all seems well. iv left bits of paper etc under the rockers and time will tell if it actually stopped the leak completely.
although i did notice 2 trails of something leading to/from my garage so either the new covers are working or its lost all its oil. ill check the oil level and bits of paper at the weekend...

i forget who put it but "VWs don't leak, they mark their teritory"
when i left it a few minutes ago it hadnt leaked a drop. it was leaking after seconds of being parked in one place before. its definately an improvement. plus the bolt ons are just a shiny as the chrome ones they replaced. score.

i have no idea what that is. the covers are deeper than the last ones so surely there should be no problems?

goaferboy, go buy "an idiots guide to keeping your volkswagen alive". I think its by John Muir. Its a fantastic book, and will be a great intro to volkswagens giving all manner of help with hands on stuff

So is it running well now?
Nymphs back on the road now after its winter break so we will have to go out for a convoy sometime. Maybe do that trip to Halfords sometime and show them some real cars ;D Maybe they will try and sell us some Lexus style lights. ;D

OT - ImpJimbo... is that a Camper Van Beethoven reference? Certainly sounds like it - quality tune..... Good news on the Buggy Goaferboy, tappets should be a right simple job, just ensure you are methodical and take your time. Great thing with the Beetle engine is thats its so simple to turn the engine over

oils leaking from the other rocker now. not nearly as much so its an improvement.
impjimbo: we must convoy to halfords, although we'll have to buy something there otherwise were no better than the other chavs who park there to show off their cars. could always do mcdonalds/burger king car park too if you want ;D
buggies not exactly running smooth but iv got better at left foot braking now so i can keep it running at junctions.
cappucino: no problem. I'm just as bad at remembering stuff. although the golfs getting right on my tits now so it could do with the carb.
