have you thought how many memories you are generating with all your cars? the best thing i can remember from when i was a kid was my dads 1983 capri, but then it was only 4 years old so not overly great! as an example here is the selection that my kids have been treated to in the last 12 months alone! i wish i had had the childhood my kids are getting, i have got my 10 year old bugging me to learn how to weld and spray cars! and all their mates think we are the coolest family in town!

Yeah, I've wondered what memories my daughter Isabel will have - she's only 11 months now so none at the moment! She did come home from hospital in the Oxford when she was about 3 weeks old I was particularly smartly dressed (for me) a couple of days ago and she was sitting on my lap playing with my tie. I said in typical fatherly teaching voice "Look its got a big end and a little end" and then without thinking added "just like a con-rod!" Katie burst out laughing ;D Isabel didn't seem to understand

Although mine are a bit too young to really understand new vs old, I do think that. Age-wise, the 240K is the equivalent of my dad having something from the 1940's when I was a kid in the early 1970's (which he certainly didn't).
My hope is that in seeing all this old stuff being used my kids won't grow up into consumerist must-have-everything-new people. I'm not exactly practical, but already my daughter sees me mending/doing stuff and takes an interest. At under three, her favourite toy at playgroup is the "mending car".

Haha, it's true the little ones do love the retro cool! My son is 3 and he is motor mad... trucks, bikes busses but mostly hot rods (in his words 'mega cool') or anything 'slammed'. His fave car I've had of late was the Mk1 Escort now owned by Rev. Deluxe I feel I have taught him well! He also comes 'mudding' with us every weekend & seems to find being bounced about as my 37-year old landie traverses the slime thoroughly enjoyable - we can't go anywhere now without him pointing out every land rover (or Crusty Truck as he calls them) that he sees. My daughter is a little bit young for it all but does show good promise by constantly trying to ingest 'hot wheels' cars that my boy leaves over the carpet. I do however, fully expect them to grow out of it. By the time they are teenagers they will probably find my old-car obsession very sad & deeply uncool, and will be looking forward to buying their first Mark 9 Corsa 1.0 (with 2 yrs free insurance) on credit....

One of my earliest memories is seeing 100mph on the speedo of my Dads old Triumph 2000. I was probably 3 or 4 standing between the front seats. My wife reckons we need to get a Merc W123 for transporting bambino to car shows next year. not allowed put him in the 850.

Not got kids myself but I spent my childhood in early Escorts, Cortinas, a Skoda, a VW Derby and a variety of VW camper vans. Clearly my addiction is all my parents fault!

My daughter was driven home in my Cortina. She then spent the first year of her life in that to start followed by the VW Camper after the cortina's engine gave up. She even had a weekend ride in a Reliant Scimitar! Sadly the VW's engine has now got problems so now it's a ratted Sierra Saphire. Ho-Hum!
