Totally agree with you all, age really is just a number!!!
Ive been a car nut for as long as i can remember, i used to spend my holidays going to work with my dad ,who has always been a mechanic, and going out in breakdown wagons ( Land Rovers or Jeeps) and just being fascinated by it all.
When i was in the UK i did what most family men did, get family cars and bought newer and newer. I have to say that the fun i got out of motoring decreased as the cars got newer, i naively believed that if i bought " the right car" that i would get that sense of fun and the buzz back which i craved. I was wrong!
Over here the motor scene isnt a world apart from the UK. There are the "Max Power" brigade as well as the Classic car enthusiasts but, at the moment, there seems to be little interest in Retro rides, i hope to change that!!
I'm not too sure at the moment about the cans and cants with what you can do with cars here, ive seen some heavily modified cars but i think that the problems may revolve around engine mods, we shall see............................
When funds allow i shall start searching. Ive recently seen an original 1964 Volvo Amazon, well used but looking good for 2000 euros, a Renault 10 garaged but complete a Peugeot 403 and a few other older cars which look viable.
The good thing about being here is that there are cars that you just wouldnt see in the UK. How about a 4 door Seat ( Fiat) 127? Ive even seen 2 Seat ( Fiat) 850s which were 4 door models, both daily drivers. If i do come across such weird and wonderful cars on my travels i will post some pics.
My sons almost 21 now and my daughters 14 so, i reckon, ive earned the right to induge myself a little bit!!
DP, you are my kind of guy!!
Regards
Rob
