OKey dokey ! I have to take my VW T25/T3 in for its test on Sat, all seems pretty good...apart from on my front shocks, the dust covers are loose and have dropped off down to the bottom of the shocks arm, will this fail an MOT ? the shock and bump stop itself are fine.
thanks for any advice.......
If its NOT ok, can i just whip the dust covers off and leave em off !! ??

if they don't leak and operate OK, you'll be fine.

I've seen innumerable VWs pass in the same condition. It's probably safest to have a look at the online MOT manual. I can't remember the address though

Suspension - Under the bonnet, upper suspension is checked for corrosion and condition, everything that is meant to be on there, locking nuts, split pins etc, should be present and in good condition. Under the car, both front and rear suspension, everything that is meant to be on there, locking nuts, split pins etc, should be present and in good condition, springs are checked for condition, this is where you need to do some research, some places will class a cut spring as a “cracked” or damaged spring, so check before you book it in, the spring should be secure, and free of cracks, the damper are checked with the “bounce test”- car bounced, and should return no more than three times, and also checked for leaks and damage to the seals pf the units and pistons.

Following those rules stringently then, i would pass my front suspension. even with 60mm lowering... It passed no problem at the same place last year, and its done about 300 miles if that since then, although the dust covers were on properly then....

I've never known a wedge fail on worn shockers - have you tried to bounce one? ;D
