True. Mate Kevin who is building thay Deusenberg replica tossed these out today.  I did the same with mine. Best place for it was the bin. They're utterly plop And there I was thinking I would give them to you to use as spares for some magical tool build. Do I just put them out with scrap metal on the sidewalk, or give them to someone who thinks they are worth using? As I seem to recall I know a guy who knows about brakes and laying brake lines? Aaaah but you see grizz, I've got an acquaintance who does clearance as a living, so I've got two professional pipe flarers as well as one of those! Tbf they do come in handy if you're trying to flare a pipe that's still on a car, Just don't expect a good flare, getting something that actually seals in a result with those! 🙄 |

Tbf they do come in handy if you're trying to flare a pipe that's still on a car, Just don't expect a good flare, getting something that actually seals in a result with those! 🙄 Clamping the bar in a vice improves your chances of getting a usable flare. But that does remove the use it on the car functionality which is the only reason for persevering with one of the useless things. |

Mickey is heavy on tools. Currently has my wheelbarrow and making sure it doed not come back as taken. On the way home from getting milk and bread this morning I saw these thrown out down the road. Knocked and asked if I could have them. Home owner helped me load them. Free cash again as I knew I would have been buying a new wheelbarrow soon.  Life keeps giving. |

indeed . had some amazing skip finds this week, filing cabinets, chairs, desk, pens, cutlery, kettle, projector, drum kit, shelves, sheets of plywood, sheet of perspex, mirror, rolls of blue vinylcloth, storage boxes, cashboxes , cash (yes really, a pot of assorted coins, mostly foreign but some old UK ones, I even told the person whos skip it was and they just shrugged their shoulders) , wood varnish, washing up liquid, hand soap, plastic fish, pianola rolls, mic stands, champagne flutes, wooden toys, broom, infra red heater.  |

I found these double-glazing units in a skip last weekend, and once I'd checked it was OK I had to press one of my classics into action to retrieve them as they wouldn't go in the daily driver.  My intention is to dismantle them to provide replacement glass for a couple of broken panes in the greenhouse, and to replace missing glass in the cover of the cold frame in the hope I can persuade something to grow in there next year. I read a thing on the net about how to dismantle double-glazing units, but I never once stopped to check whether they're likely to be toughened in some way, and therefore difficult / impossible to cut to size. |

Managed to intercept these things from the skip the other day. Fabric paints. Really good projector with 80% lamp life remaining. Really terrible drum kit , half of the lugs were broken mic stands pianola rolls. dehumidifier Spur wall mounted slot shelving. subwoofer lights metal cupboard       |

Driving back from the osteopath yesterday, I saw a strap in the road. Went to the next roundabout, came back and pulled over, popped out and picked this one up. Had hoped it would be one of those lifting straps with loops at the ends. It turned out to be a big loop, continuous in nature, sure it will come in handy some time for me or someone else. I think the looped ones may be good to lift the MX5 engine out, but this may work too. No idea of value, but free is cool as always.  Eyes open gang…… Money in the streets 😉 |

Every so often I drive past one end of a ratchet strap somewhere on the road, but I've never been in a position to stop and pick it up. Always makes me wonder whether I'm going to find the thing that it was supposed to be holding in place.

It turned out to be a big loop, continuous in nature, sure it will come in handy some time for me or someone else. I think the looped ones may be good to lift the MX5 engine out, but this may work too. Being a two seater, the MX5 already has two free lifting straps. It just takes a sharp knife to liberate them from the seatbelts..... |

I picked up 2 straps off the side of the A141 a few months ago, practically new, and when coiled up the coils are about a foot across!
Not found anything that long o need to strap down yet

Took the remains of a sofa to the tip today. First stop, the shop. Found nothing. Tipped the sofa and saw a framed pic of a plane sitting in the top of the wood bin, perfect for uncle for christmas. Spoke to a legend who fast-tracked it to the shop. Another lap and back to the shop. This time I found a man-table, a lighter with a globe on it and a 20in high aluminium figure that looks like its made of weld. Quite creepy actually.   And that picture. A framed print thats far more colourful than the pic shows  It wasnt until i got it home that i realised its numbered and signed by the artist.  And three other signatures that after a bit of googling would appear to be the pilots  Uncles not getting it. |

I did a quick Google for skinny, thin, welded sculptures….. That style is unique enough that it may be reasonably easy to track down the style. |

When I saw that picture I said out loud “holy ship!” As it looks like a sculpture by a Giacometti. But on closer look it doesn’t look like it is. If it was you could retire early and all your offspring too! Even if it isn’t it may be worth £100 or so to the right person. Perhaps more? |
