Hi, i'm needing an Austin A35 moved from Gosport to Portsmouth then an MG Midget moved from a mile or so away to my new garage. If anyone can help please it would much appreciated. Let me know how much it will cost, i would hire a trailer but don't have a towbar. Neither cars are running at the mo but both are moveable and don't weigh a lot. Cheers! Dave.

I know what you mean, with the price of diesel etc. I went on shiply and was quoted 80 quid just for the gosport to portsmouth, is it just me being tight or is that a bit steep? I know people need to make a bit of money out of it but i do 9 hours work for not a lot more than that! ;D

I know people need to make a bit of money out of it but I do 9 hours work for not a lot more than that! ;D Yeah but have you invested in a tow car/trailer/transporter and the necessary insurance and running costs? then you have to do a 50 mile round trip (according to google maps) and thats IF you live in potsmouth, so 3 gallons of petrol in my tow car £15 ish... My hourly labour wage is around £25/hr most would charge more, two hours minimum esp if loading unloading is awkward probably three before you got home home and unloaded so there you have your fee.. Seems entirely reasonable to me, this inst some guy on a forum doing you a favour for beer money, this is someones livelyhood... |

Fair enough, that's why i was asking if it was me being tight, obviously it is. I've never moved a car before so didn't know.

To be honest I'd do it for a bit less than that if you were local, but unless it's a favour for a mate (virtual or real...) then you have to make it worth your while, simple economics dude....
