well after thinking about it for long enough, and want something to do over the winter! so I got the owner to drop the V5 round, and this is now mine ;D but the thing is, I don't know if I should restore it back to a standard XR2?? or give it the RR treatment?? been toying with a bit of the euro look with a twist of the good old JDM as well. see if I can get it Really low like the Vdub boys do.. but could do with some inspiration to set my mojo going this one does it for me.. but don't want to just copy someone else's work..want to make it my own! it's at the point now were new rear 1/4 panel is ready to fit and doors are off ready for cill repair,so if I'm going to do something a bit different, need to start now?? so come on people, so me what you got ;D

Genuine Mk2 XR2? Restore and sell it on for a tidy profit. Then buy a much cheaper stock/lower spec Mk2 and give that the treatment.
This is a good 'speculate to accumulate' kinda car if you do it right. Make it look like a car from RR and watch the value drop.
I'm all for slam, wheels etc....but sometimes you just have to make decisions with your head that allow you to indulge your heart even better further down the line.

as it stands, mk2 xr2's aren't really worth that much, they will be within the next few years. head over to www.xr2.com for inspiration, forum is good and friendly and with lots of info and some very good projects. also, www.shitboxracing.co.uk is very good with a bunch of nutters on it ;D

Leave it exactly as it is, just fit coilovers and slam it, maybe, just maybe you might also be allowed to remove the trim from the rims

the goldy one on ats classics is fooking nice Id say get an mot on it. Mop it, sell it on and buy a base spec one... they look tidyer when given the treatment Xr2's being the sporting model tend to look a bit racecar no matter whats done.. But then its a fine line between chav wagon and cool with a stock bodykit...

What is the story behind it being on a k plate? It's actually Reg'd a 1988 from memory, chap on xrtwo.com had this car. Somehow it seems it may have slipped though the DVLA's reg transfer rules

hum it would seem that the opinion is to leave it as it is and move it on.. to replace it with a base model one??!! but thats my point.. i to think they look alot better with out all the body kit on them(mk1 xr2 looked just right, but mk2's look a bit over the top IMO!) it would be nice to find a base spec one.. but the reason for going with this one was simple.. it was cheap! ;D and not only that..its a better base to start with, being an XR2(brakes,rollbars, 5 speed box.etc..) so if i was to do this one. it would be done with out the body kit and most of the trim.. clean line's like the dub boys do! so lets see your photos of non XR2 fiestas o.. and as for the K plate.. its all as should be. got the new (and isn't it a bit ..RED!!)V5 today.. would still like to find out when and how it got put on a K reg??!

How about combining a few different elements from these two? satin paint, red wheels and chrome peep or door mirrors from this one. clear indicators, stock bonnet, wide arches, ultra smooth body and bumpers from this one. Go a teensy bit further and get rid of the door furniture and change out the red steels for some nice JDM alloys in red, maybe a Chrysanthemum or 4 pointed star type pattern with polished rims... I can't find all the relevant components to photoshop into a coherent image for you, unfortunately, otherwise I'd do that instead of all of the above to make this post much shorter.
