Sorry to see that, looked a nice motor The boot floor doesnt look as bad as it could have been, it has kinked near the spare wheel well, looks like it will pull back out ok from the pic. I reckon because it will need new back-panel, repair to the rear wing and the boot floor pulling out plus new rear lights and rear bumper, paint and other sundries, I think it will be written off personally Least you can go out looking for a new motor! and maybe buy it back and do a cheap-ass repair job on it to run around in!

Yeah, that's the general consensus on the E30 forum I go on. It is a shame, but in all honesty I was considering selling and getting something cheaper to insure, so maybe they did me a favour (a strange way of looking at things, I know!). But it is a very tidy all round car and it would be a waste to scrap it, so i might look into buying it back and having it fixed. THEN I'll try and sell it. I'm considering going back to Mini-ownership (I'm obviously a masochist who enjoys getting the most from my RAC membership!).

don't let it get written off. just buy a new back panel weld it in.. and hammer out any damage further down. shame its put a crease in the boot floor a bit but c'est la vie.

The insurers will probably write that off but it depends where quote are obtained from a lot of accident repair compaines will quote for genuine bm parts and if they do that it will probably come out as twice the price of the car. You might be lucky and they might give you the option to buy the car back for very little. To be honest looking at it it seems a very easy repair and it should be possible to repair it to a good standard for less than £100

It will be writen off. A lad I know off another forum has a mid 80s S class merc and that was rear ended, you could hardly see the damage, just needed a boot lid and a tail light really.
They'll probably offer you like £300 for it so get your hard head on. They will usually cavve if you play hardball and back it up with facts.
I'd buy the car back and fix it. Looks a simple enough repair.
